RT | December 18, 2015 Human rights activists fear British military personnel could be embedded with Saudi Arabian allies who are bombing Yemen after receiving opaque responses from the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Concerns have been raised by the charity Reprieve, which is best known for its work on post 9/11 torture and rendition, after […]
By Svetlana Alexandrova – Sputnik – 18.12.2015 The European Union should impose sanctions on Turkey and Saudi Arabia for financing the Islamic State (IS or Daesh in Arabic) jihadist group, instead of extending its anti-Russia sanctions, the leader of Italy’s Eurosceptic Lega Nord party, Matteo Salvini, told Sputnik Wednesday. A UN Security Council Resolution to […]

The idea that the uprising against the Syrian government is inspired by a grassroots movement thirsting for a pluralist, democratic state is a fiction. The opposition’s chief elements are Islamists who seek to establish a Sunni-dominated Islamic state in place of a Syrian government they revile for being secular and dominated by Alawi “heretics.” “Al Qaeda-linked groups…dominate rebel ranks,” notes The Wall Street Journal.
-by NoahWhat better example of the 2015 republican state of mind could I use to begin my 2015 review of Republican World than the classic, all too typical, paranoid Republican fantasy of Jade Helm 15?It wasn’t enough when the denizens of Republican World convinced themselves that they better vote against Obama, not just because he’s one of "those people" but because he was going to "take away our guns." Well, two elections came and went, and no guns were confiscated.

The US Congress has decided to try and slip in the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) into the omnibus spending bill. The omnibus is the bill that will fund the government for the 2016 fiscal year and thus prevent a government shutdown. So in other words, it has to be passed. It includes a bunch of other provisions and bills and packages them all up into one. What usually happens though is that lawmakers will try and attach other pieces of legislation onto it, taking advantage of the necessity of its passing. As Representative Lloyd Doggett

The Republican wing of the War Party – and their Democratic doppelgangers – sure are having a field day over the San Bernardino massacre. At last they have a superficially plausible rationale for invading Syria and sticking Uncle Sam’s foot into yet another hopeless Middle Eastern quagmire – and they can cite poll numbers in […]

The most recent Republican debate for the 2016 election was unsurprisingly dominated by the shadow of terrorism and war. The Paris attacks that killed more than 130 people, plus the 14 deaths in San Bernardino, California seem to have brought about a new-old sentiment among Republicans. The year is now somewhere between 2001 and 2005 […]

By Noah Introduction: Being A Republican Is A Choice. What is Republican World? It’s not an amusement park. We are definitely not amused. No, Republican World is a hideous freakshow that half of the country’s population has chosen as a lifestyle. It’s a lot more than the insanity of Trump, Carson, Cruz, Rubio, Bush, Fiorina, Huckster and the rest of the party’s bizarre collection of miscreants running to be the party’s nominee for president.
RT | December 17, 2015 Never at loss for words, Putin was as straight-forward as ever at his annual Q&A session. Russian relations with Turkey, the Syrian and Ukrainian crises, as well as the US presidential race were the highlights of the 3-hour long marathon attended by 1,400 journalists. When asked about third party interests […]
Unfolding now is a multidimensional chess game comprising centuries-old animosities, petrodollars, pipelines, a neo-Ottoman sultanate, plans for balkanizing the Mid East into manageable ethnic states, Israeli energy plans and oligarchs, Neoconservatives, the U.S. military-industrial complex, Daesh-ISIS, NATO, the EU, Kurdistan, Ukraine and a gaggle of nation states.

It seems inconceivable to me that we-- we, like in American progressives-- still haven't succeeded in persuading out fellow Democrats that there is a non-business-as-usual candidate running for president against a much better-known-- and much disliked-- establishment candidate. Bernie is the best candidate for president in my lifetime. Hillary, aside from being a woman, is just more of the same the insiders are always shoving down our throats.

They look at the Syrian chessboard and as power projection goes, they see Russia comfortably settling down, with a serious land and air base, to conduct all sorts of operations across MENA (Middle East-Northern Africa) in the near future. The Pentagon obviously never saw it coming.

Washington sure wants regime change in Syria, just as former US General Wesley Clark disclosed back in 2007 – a policy that the American military-industrial complex formulated in 2001 following the 9/11 terror events. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that the same US hegemonic ambitions for the Middle East and beyond have changed under Obama.

What’s clear is that Isis and its monstrosities won’t be defeated by the same powers that brought it to Iraq and Syria in the first place, or whose open and covert war-making has fostered it in the years since. Endless western military interventions in the Middle East have brought only destruction and division. It’s the people of the region who can cure this disease – not those who incubated the virus.
TweetMarco Rubio, would be candidate for president of the USA, was asked at the GOP debate last Tuesday to discuss the US policy of illegal "regime change" and the great failure of the US polices in the Middle East and North Africa. These are policies that he and John McCain, Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama used to destroy the sovereign nation of Libya, Mr. Rubio upon being elected to the Senate immediately became best buddies with the "Manchurian Candidate" John McCain.

This morning I spoke to an old friend, a prominent and well-off progressive attorney who lives in a red-leaning swing district with a low-profile, relatively inoffensive-- albeit very right-wing-- Republican congressman. He ran against the congressman once but, largely due to typical duplicity and incompetence from Steve Israel and the DCCC, he ended the cycle by saying he would never run again.
