One of the most striking – though unreported – aspects of Donald Trump’s interview with The London Times and Bild-Zeitung is what Trump had to say about the state of the US military and of the US defence budget.
Al-Manar – January 18, 2017 Syrian deputy Foreign Ministry rejected on Wednesday the participation of Saudi Arabia and Qatar in the Astana peace talks on Syria next week, stressing that negotiations should not include every party that supports, arms and funds terrorism. “Once Qatar and Saudi Arabia halt their support to terrorism, then we can […]
When I first met James we were both in our twenties. Now we're both in our sixties. When I met him he was getting a doctorate in urban planning. Now he's married to one of my oldest friends from high school and is considered one of the most distinguished architects in New York. He was always imbued with progressive values but I never saw him as an activist let alone a radical.

Who Is Paying Protesters To Disrupt Trump’s Inauguration?
Update: This from a reader: Dear Dr. Roberts,
I just read your recent post regarding the DC protesters. AND interestingly enough, I just had a job interview the first week in December when I had a FEMA sponsored job interview for a position as a FEMA Community Planner. AND interestingly, the interview questions, exactly match the objectives referenced in your posting! My question is this: Is FEMA being used as an inside job?
The U.S. had paved the way, on 16 September 2016, for this conquest, by bombing Syria’s troops and weapons-compounds in Der Zor. Those government forces were protecting the residents there from ISIS mercenaries and weaponry, that are financed by Saudi Arabia, and armed by the U.S. and other members of the Saudi-led alliance.

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih told reporters at Davos that OPEC will monitor oil output and production to ensure that the agreement to curb output is met by all [Xinhua]
The commitment and execution of OPEC and non-OPEC members to curb output in line with an agreement last December is still holding strong, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih said at Davos late Tuesday.
He praised Russia for being ahead of its scheduled reduction pledges.

We applaud Obama for commuting the prison sentence of Chelsea Manning from 35 years to 7 years.
Army soldier, Chelsea Manning was convicted in 2013 of leaking hundreds of thousands (some counts have the number at 750,000) classified documents about US national security activities to WikiLeaks.
Those documents included diplomatic cables, military intelligence in Iraq and Afghanistan, and video files showing US strikes against “terrorists”, and in one instance showing strikes that killed two Reuters journalists.

Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency contractor who divulged volumes of highly classified US intelligence material to world media in 2013, Tweeted his thanks to US President Barack Obama for commuting analyst Chelsea Manning’s 35-year prison sentence for leaking Iraq war data to Wikileaks.

I stated some months ago, while assembling a criminal dossier against the NATO powers for the ultimate war crime of aggression, that the build-up of NATO forces in Eastern Europe, particularly American, concentrated on the Baltic states and Ukraine, presaged hybrid war operations against Russia leading to a general war.

Much has been said about North Korea’s nuclear program and missile tests. An all-out war is hardly an option and the prospects for talks are bleak enough. There is a great possibility the problem will be solved by a commando raid...

Multilateralism and cooperation between states on different fronts is on the rise, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at his annual press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
China and Russia, who enjoy excellent relations, have been key drivers in the rise of multilateralism, he added. They have been playing an “important and active role” in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS bloc, he said.
On Tuesday, outgoing President Obama commuted the prison sentence of Chelsea Manning.
Chelsea Manning was convicted in 2013 of leaking classified documents about US national security activities to WikiLeaks.
The 35-year sentence handed down to the former army soldier was the longest ever imposed for a leak conviction.
Manning has served seven years of that 35 year sentence, and will now be released on May 17, 2017.
Will Julian Assange agree to extradition as Wikileaks previously tweeted a week ago?
It appear that Assange may hold true to this tweet.

Earlier this week the media lit up with reports of a political activist group that was advertising across the nation to pay protesters to come out and demonstrate against the inauguration of Donald Trump.
Some of the most important international news bulletins have been the reports coming out of the Middle East, beginning in 2011 when the Obama administration kicked off the Arab Spring. It seems that the world has become accustomed to the waves of violence that are flooding that region. But in 2016 there was a series of events that to some degree signaled new political trends, which inspire some degree of optimism for the future...

When a UK Prime Minister, such as the Conservative David Cameron, does the work of a foreign power, working for that foreign power and against UK’s democratic ideals, and also against the interests and values (such as equal-rights, and UK’s sovereign independence) which are held by the UK public, then that UK Prime Minister is perpetrating treason, whatever else it might also be called...
The report on January 15 that Donald Trump had announced there would be a trade deal between Britain and America, to be ‘done quickly and done properly,’ came as a surprise. When US business tycoon-turned-politician Donald Trump ran for office, “drain the swamp” became a popular campaign cry. Trump likely was implying that he would “drain” corrupt and redundant features of Washington’s establishment and distance Washington’s leadership from the suffocating corruption of special interests on Wall Street.

On December 29, 2016, the government of the Republic of Korea expressed its vehement protest to the Japanese authorities about the visit made by the Minister of Defense of Japan, Tomomi Inada, to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo. With more than a little irony, while I was in Iraq working for the State Department, Chelsea Manning’s office was across the hall from mine. While I was winning the war by writing emails to the embassy, Manning was across the hall capturing the texts of hundreds of thousands of State Department cables, famously released by Wikileaks, showing that was could never be won.
