By Will Shonbrun Preface I believe that the conditions that govern the lives of human beings on Earth are not optimal for the full flowering of that individual. This is both to state the obvious and to then argue its validity, but what’s needed first is a definition or description of what is meant by […]

Sunday’s deadly attack in Damascus (and Homs) follows an earlier suicide bombing claimed by ISIL in the Syrian capital [Xinhua]
Turkey on Sunday said it has the right to bomb terrorist organizations operating in Syria even as US Secretary of State John Kerry announced Sunday that a provisional agreement has been reached to cease hostilities in the war-ravaged Middle Eastern nation.
Rubio, Cruz and Herr Trumpf have been smearing each other all week, all month, all year, and each of them insists the other two are shameless liars. And, for once, all three are telling the truth. So it would be a bonus to put up a truthful and trustworthy Democrat in November. Regardless how you feel about Hillary Clinton, honesty and trustworthiness are not among the traits she's most admired for.
San Francisco in the 60’s was the home of many radicals who made shifts in culture that had lasting effects on progress in America. The underground art movement met the civil rights and peaceful leftists. Through this mingling of creativity and activism evolved a group of people focused on direct action, often through the use of street theater. Running from […]

Sunday again... And as expected, it is time again for my weekly rant...I honestly do NOT like being sick... I came down with what I thought was a nasty head cold at the beginning of the week, and then after a few days of getting a bit of rest and taking some over the counter medication, I thought I was feeling better.. But it was an illusion for by Friday I was again ill and at the same time having one heck of a time trying to sleep.... I have been listless over the last few days and again was trying to up my Vitamin C and D intakes as well as just lying down and trying to sleep....

Exclusive: President Bill Clinton’s Kosovo war of 1999 was loved by neocons and liberal hawks – the forerunner for Iraq, Libya, Syria and other conflicts this century – but Kosovo’s political violence and lawlessness today underscore the grim consequences of those strategies even when they “succeed,” writes Jonathan Marshall. February 21, 2016 (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - Accusations and denials continue to be traded between the West's NGO, Doctors Without Borders or officially Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and the Russian and Syrian government. Despite the gravity of the accusations by the West and MSF, which suggest "deliberate" and egregious war crimes, they have thus far produced no evidence.
By Joshua Frank | CounterPunch | February 19, 2016 So, how did America’s poor fare under Bill Clinton’s White House reign? Better than George W. Bush — at least that seems to be the common belief among Democratic voters today, especially those lining up behind Madam Hillary. However, the economy under Clinton in the 1990s may not have […]
From the Archive: President Clinton’s 1999 air war on Serbia supposedly to stop genocide in Kosovo became the model for neocon/liberal hawk “humanitarian” wars this century. But – as Kosovo descends again into political violence – the war also foreshadowed what can go wrong, as Don North reported in this prescient story from 1999. By…

By Jonathon Cook | The Bog From Nazareth | February 21, 2016 As I have found out myself, there is nothing media outlets like less than criticising other media publications or the “profession” of journalism. It’s not really surprising. The credibility of a corporate media depends precisely on their not breaking ranks and not highlighting the […]
Rubio and Cruz have competed for the title of "most homophobic" in the Republican primary season. Rubio has a problem-- not just because of the high heeled booties, but because he was arrested when he was 19 in a closed Coconut Grove park that was frequently (exclusively) by elderly gay johns looking for gay-for-pay teenage men-- and Cruiz is winning this one.

The British government’s latest initiative, which could ban local councils, public bodies and student unions across England from boycotting or disinvesting in unethical companies, flies in the face of its rhetoric in support for devolution and local decision-making. On Wed, 17th Feb, Cabinet Secretary Matthew Hancock formally announced the government’s intention to ban local councils across England and Wales from pursuing […]

Thursday evening at the Las Vegas town hall, Nevada Democrats boo-ed Hillary Clinton when she accused Bernie Sanders of not really being a Democrat (video above). That's an interesting statement and it depends what you mean by "a Democrat." On one level she's correct. Bernie is an independent who caucuses with the Democratic Party. He founded the Congressional Progressive Caucus and was elected its first chairman.
For some, political prejudice and poor competency have become synonymous with the South Korean intelligence services. Every now and then our magazine informed its readers about yet another fishy story it got itself into and published some mind-boggling “revelation,” which later got exposed as utter gimmicks.
The reason why Western ‘news’ media ignore many important news-events (such as the AFP’s superb interview of the man whom the U.S. aristocracy and its allied aristocracies are determined to overthrow) is that informing the public truthfully so that voters will be able to vote on the basis of truths instead of on the basis of delusions that are inculcated into them by the media, isn’t actually their purpose, at all — especially not when the topic is international relations.
The Turkish government has become almost apoplectic over Washington’s support for the Kurdish militants in Syria. Erdogan this week repeated an ultimatum to US President Barack Obama “to back us, not the terrorists” – referring to the YPG. Ankara fears that the emboldened Syrian Kurds might eventually carve out a separatist state with their PKK comrades in southeast Turkey.

The fresh gains also tightened noose on Daesh as they included two strategic roads that used to serve as supply routes for the terror group: the main road connecting Shaddadah to Daesh-held city of Mosul in Iraq and another road connecting it to Raqqah, the takfiris' de facto capital. Having lost these two routes, the Takfiris in the area were forced to retreat towards the Dayr al-Zawr province, which is mostly under their control.
