On the day after South Korean President Moon Jae-in made a strong statement indicating his wish to see “no more war” on the Korean peninsula, North Korean media outlet KCNA released a lengthy statement regarding the stand-off with the US. The tone of the statement is confident and patriotic, but crucially it is one which offers the US a would-be ‘escape clause’ from any actual confrontation.
On August 10, 2017, President Donald Trump declared the opioid crisis a national emergency in a move that many speculated he wouldn’t make. Only 2 days before the announcement, Trump vowed to “win” the fight on painkillers and heroin, but stopped short of declaring an emergency. [1]
On August 8, following a meeting with Trump, Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price said that such a declaration was unnecessary, but said that all options were on the table, including a declaration of emergency. [2]
It is unclear what sparked the reversal.

Improving the dangerously unstable U.S.-Russia relationship will be very difficult, but it is important for U.S. national security. Current mutual hostility threatens an explosive confrontation that could destroy American (and Russian) civilization as we know it. Short of that, Russia can do much more than it is today to damage U.S. interests and values without taking extreme risks. Accordingly, the United States should explore normalizing its interaction with Russia. Washington should do so without illusions, and from a position of strength.

It is commonly perceived that US President Donald Trump is using trade leverage with China in order to pressure Beijing to get tougher on North Korea over the latter’s nuclear weapons program. But what if we run that in reverse? It could be argued that Trump is using the Korea crisis to pursue a trade war with China.

Russia believes that the time has come for the US to leave Afghanistan. The statement was made by Zamir Kabulov, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Director of the Second Asian Department in Afghanistan and a special envoy to Afghanistan, in an interview with Russian Izvestia daily. According to him, the country is turning into a global incubator of international terrorism. Moscow also strongly opposes the idea of sending military contractors there to replace the regular US servicemen.
The former architect of the NSA’s surveillance program William Binney tells Tucker Carlson why some intel specialists like the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) do not find theories of Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election believable.
Binney’s appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight is a huge win for truth, science and fact…and a major blow to the Hillary Clinton concocted lie that Russia hacked the elections…a lie made up by HRC’s campaign “dream team” to explain away her pathetic loss to Donald Trump.
According to The Gateway Pundit, President Trump owned CNN’s Jim Acosta after the reporter asked why a press conference was not being held following the deadly Charlottesville protests.
CNN’s Acosta asked if he could ask Trump questions and the President zinged him! “I like real news, not fake news – you’re fake news,” President Trump said.
The tumultuous events that dominate international news today cannot be accurately understood outside of their underlying context, which connects them together, into a broader narrative — the actual history of our time. History makes sense, even if news-reports about these events don’t. Propagandistic motivations cause such essential facts to be reported little (if at all) in the news, so that the most important matters for the public to know, get left out of news-accounts about those international events.
For Ron Paul, there is something unsettling about how President Trump has surrounded himself with generals.
According to Paul, from Trump’s defense secretary to his national security advisor to his White House chief of staff, the POTUS looks to senior military officers to fill key positions that have been customarily filled by civilians. He’s surrounded by generals and threatens war at the drop of a hat.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult for Americans to recall that civilian leaders are supposed to command and control the military, not vice-versa. Consider an article posted yesterday at Newsweek with the title, TRUMP’S GENERALS CAN SAVE THE WORLD FROM WAR – AND STOP THE CRAZY. The article extols the virtues of “Trump’s generals”: James Mattis as … Continue reading "Military Control of the Civilian: It’s Opposite Day in America"

He was a Ted Cruz primary supporter last year but has quickly come around to a very Trumpian worldview after Trump beat Cruz in the GOP primary. A few ignorant morons, claiming to be liberal/progressive/left, have sent emails claiming that all of the authors whose works I listed are Nazis and Hitler-lovers. Nothing could be further from the truth. What these brainwashed morons are demonstrating is their contemptible moral, intellectual and spiritual weakness. Lies are the very substance of their lives.

FDI may have decreased slightly but the net inflow has increased as Beijing works to reduce capital outflows [Xinhua]
In a sign that China’s economy is returning to a robust level and that confidence in the world’s biggest market is getting an uplift, Beijing officials announced this weekend that the ratio of foreign capital inflows in a wide range of sectors versus outflows has reversed the negative trends of previous years.
In the first two quarters, the net inflows hit $16 billion.

Listening to NPR this morning confirmed what I already knew. Charlottesville is being turned into another nail in President Trump’s coffin.
NPR had no interest whatsoever in reporting the actual facts about what had occurred in Charlottesville. The several “interviews” with the like-minded were orchestrated to produce the desired propaganda result: It was all Trump’s fault.

President Trump’s recent threats of military action against Venezuela were amplified by his CIA director, Mike Pompeo, over the weekend. Pompeo would have us believe Venezuela is a serious threat to the United States because of his claim that the Russians, Iranians, Cubans, and Hezbollah are all in Venezuela. What about the US? Hasn’t Washington been trying to overthrow the Venezuelan government since at least 1999, when Hugo Chavez was elected? More on the new “enemy of the week” in today’s Ron Paul Liberty Report:
