Appeals to the climate consensus can give the wrong impression
by Will Howard
“Consensus” means different things to different people — and herein lies the problem.
You might have heard that 97% of climate scientists agree the world is warming and people are the cause. This level of agreement, known as “consensus”, is often put forward in the climate debate in support of human-caused global warming and action to mitigate it. It was recently popularised on US talk show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. -

In Iraq the army shows no signs of recovering from its earlier defeats and has failed to launch a single successful counter-attack; in Syria the other opposition groups, including the battle-hardened fighters of al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham, are demoralised and disintegrating as they are squeezed between ISIS and the Assad government.

America Is A Pariah State Cursed By Decent Men Of Good Will
You think you are the home of evil, darkness and sin. You think if anyone could see the truth about you he would be repelled, recoiling from you as if from a poisonous snake. Israel, Who's Yer Daddy?
Once America's crackpot far right switched from its traditional anti-Semitism to a bizarre and convoluted pretext to supporting the End Times by supporting aggressive Zionism, there ceased to be any viable critique of any kind in America of whatever the Israeli agenda might be. The few times Democrats questioned Israel in any kind of serious way-- take African-American congressmembers Earl Hilliard (D-AL) and Cynthia McKinney (D-GA)-- AIPAC wasted no time or effort in ending their careers.
