AMC is running a complete Breaking Bad marathon.by KenIf you're reading this now, chances are pretty good that you're not in at the start of AMC's complete-series segmented marathon of Breaking Bad, which began this morning at 10am ET/PT, 9am CT, and 8am MT (as best I can tell -- if ever there was a time to consult your local listings, this is it), but you've still got oodles of time to join in.

There Are More Oil Seeps Than All The Tankers On Earth By Robert Cooke – Newsday – April 10, 2005 Deep underwater, and deeper underground, scientists see surprising hints that gas and oil deposits can be replenished, filling up again, sometimes rapidly. New battle group ready in 2015?
Poland’s Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has mooted that technical preparations for a joint Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian battle group may be ready in early 2015.
The announcement comes after a phone call between Siemoniak and his Ukrainian counterpart Stepan Poltorak, Saturday, on Kiev’s decision to resign from being a neutral country and the continuing situation in Ukraine’s Donbas region.
By Margaret Sarfehjooy and Coleen Rowley | Consortium News | December 25, 2014 “War is peace” double-speak has become commonplace these days. And, the more astute foreign policy journalists and commentators are beginning to realize the extent of how “liberal interventionists” work in sync with neocon warhawks to produce and sustain a perpetual state of U.S. war. More and more “peace and social […]

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early and feeling chipper. I tweeted an upbeat statement about Bernie Sanders' likely presidential run: Just once before we pass on, shouldn't we have a president NOT owned by Big Business & Wall St.? It's still up to us http://bit.ly/1rr7eOe.

By Sami Kleib | Al-Akhbar | December 27, 2014 After the United States abandoned the idea of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stepping down and enhanced security coordination with the Syrian army against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), it appears the Europeans began some time ago a series of meetings to change their […]
-By A Democratic Political Operative (@CaliOp215)Last week, The Interview was bigger news than the guilty plea of Michael "Mikey Suits" Grimm guilty plea. The Tokyo-based decision to not show the movie on American screens shocked corporate CE’s and pot-heads alike. “How could this happen in a capitalist society,” some questioned. “We must retaliate and bomb Pyongyang,” cried others. The American media framed North Korea’s position as a powerful one.
NTS Note: I took the last few days off as I had planned to spend some time with family and friends for this Christmas… It is good to get away from writing at this blog from time to time to recharge the batteries! But now I am back…..It has been a while since I last reported about the ongoing situation at Fukushima… But there is not much new to report….
To the observant visitor, says Mitch Waxman, his home turf of Astoria, Queens, offers "a cornucopia of visual stimuli," such as "occult altars, weird neighbors, even puzzling tableaus like the one presented above."by KenFor a special Boxing Day edition of his "Newtown Pentacle" blog yesterday, our pal Mitch Waxman found himself scouting the "cornucopia of visual stimuli" to be found in his home base of

Two very unfunny actorsIt is mind boggling to consider the fact this movie had a score of nearly 10 on the IMDB-So the 'activists' had to be out in full force- Also interesting is that the movie appeared on line in China.
Too big to fireMy favorite part of the on-going Korean Air scandal is how it exposed the relationship between the plutocracy and the working class. First, meet Cho Hyun-ah, an heiress-- daughter of Korean Air chairman Cho Yang-ho.
By Craig McKee | Truth and Shadows | October 24, 2010 When they can’t explain it, they do the next best thing. They ignore it. The U.S. government, the 9/11 Commission, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, FEMA and the mainstream media all do the same thing. When they can’t explain something that contradicts […]

The hubris and hypocrisy of ‘the victors’ continues to manifest in new ways. While today’s quisling German authorities continuously hunt down elderly German men for acting as guards at prison camps during World War II, American and Israeli psychopaths conduct wars of aggression and perpetrate false flag terrorism with impunity.
Today the 1946 Frank Capra film is universally considered a Christmas classic but when it was first released, the FBI and the House Un-American Activities Committee tried to label it Communist propaganda. In 1947, an FBI document, Communist Infiltration of the Motion Picture Industry, went after two of the screen writers, Frances Goodrich and her husband Albert Hackett for, among other things, "eating lunch daily with" known Communist screen writers.
But if the Americans are genuinely interested in a moderate coalition, then they should not reward the current right-wing government by blocking the UN vote to end the Israeli occupation. If not, the PA should stop dilly-dallying and sidestep the US’ throttled UN Security Council by signing the Rome Statute to become a fully-fledged ICC member. Otherwise by its inaction, the Palestinian leadership risks history’s final verdict of being an accessory for surrendering all of Palestine.
MEMO | December 26, 2014 All Palestinian factions hold Israel responsible for the latest escalation in Gaza and regard it as a violation of the Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement. Ever hear someone bitterly decrying "all Germans" as Nazis? I heard plenty of that growing up in a Jewish community in Brooklyn and later I heard plenty of it when I lived in Amsterdam. But there was always one response that could stop anyone going down that path in their tracks-- something about a family that took a Jew or a resistance fighter in and hid them from the Nazis in their home.
If you want to know what inspires an entire nation, you’ll want to watch the video below that’s already gained more than 3 million views just hours after being posted. When given a $100 donation, a homeless man does something no one would expect – he uses it to purchase food for other homeless people.
TEPCO claims that its soaring profits in 2014 are due to increased electric fees. But how is it justifiable that the same company which used radiation detectors that gave low readings in order to lie about the true levels of contamination at Daiichi should be nearly doubling its profits as they continue to pollute the world with radioactive waste?
This past week, the Senate decided to override a line-item veto from Governor John de Jongh of the decriminalization provision for the US Virgin Islands, which had been included in the territory’s 2015 fiscal year budget. Due to this veto, the Islands will no longer prosecute those found to be in possession of one ounce or less of cannabis.

"A gourmet meal" -- yum!by KenYeah, yeah, you're not supposed to knock it if you haven't tried it. But I'm here to tell you that I have no intention of trying pizza topped with SpaghettiOs.Sometimes you have to wonder what people think pizza is about. On the one hand there are the micro-thin pizza fetishists, who don't seem to grasp that we're talking about a form of bread here, and that the crust is an integral part of the package.
