It appears that voters in Sonoma County, California, have banned genetically modified organisms (GMOs) by a margin of 56-44%, unofficial results show. In 2005, Sonoma County voters shot down a similar measure by 5%. The ban reflects changing attitudes about the biotech industry, and its impact on the environment and human health. [1]

Sonoma joins five other California counties that have already passed GMO bans: Mendocino, Marin, Trinity, Humboldt, and Santa Cruz.
China may scale down plans for nuclear power because of slowing demand for electricity and construction setbacks By Steve Thomas – ChinaDialogue – 26.10.2016 For China’s nuclear industry, 2016 has been a frustrating year. So far, construction has started on only one new plant, and its target of bringing 58 gigawatts of nuclear capacity in […]
Are you mad at people who voted for Trump? Do you know any? Would you like to see them all forced to go back to second grade and start all over again, like Keith Olbermann suggested? How about killed? Too rough? How about deprived of the right to own a gun? Deprived of their right to vote again until they pass a series of courses in civics and history?Nixon was elected in November, 1968. I was mortified, not just by his policies and agenda, but by the man.

Voters approved recreational marijuana in 4 states on November 8 – California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada. Further, an additional 4 other states passed medical marijuana provisions: Florida, Arkansas, North Dakota, and Montana, with Montana loosening restrictions on an existing law. In fact, election day was the biggest day for marijuana reform since 2012, when voters approved it for recreational use in Colorado and Washington. [1] [2]

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton walk in to a bar.
Donald leans over, and with a smile on his face, says,
“The media is really tearing you apart for that Scandal.”
Hillary: “You mean my lying about Benghazi?”
Trump: “No, the other one.”
Hillary: “You mean the massive voter fraud?”
Trump: “No, the other one.”

The federal government said on November 10th that cigarette smoking among American adults is still dropping dramatically. [1]
But the good news comes with 1 major caveat: smoking still causes 40% of all cancer diagnoses in the United States. Not just lung cancer, either. That percentage encompasses a dozen other parts of the body, including the throat, stomach, pancreas, and liver.
Two very unpopular candidates made the 2016 presidential campaign an embarrassment for American democracy. Now, the outcome could become one more tragedy for U.S. politics, observes David Marks. By David Marks Mourning seems a strange response to election results; as I…Read more →
US President Barack Obama has just given the Pentagon orders to assassinate commanders of the Al Nusra terror network in Syria. American media reports over the weekend say the new urgency arises from US intelligence fears that al Qaeda-affiliated groups are preparing to mount terror attacks against Western targets from strongholds in Syria...
The news these last few days has been all about the radical left being up in arms over Donald Trump’s ascendency to the US Presidency. The massive upset victory of this charismatic non-politician is crystallizing into a very divisive situation in the United States and in Europe, as EU leaders and NATO nations paint a geo-political picture of gloom and doom for us. However negative the picture may seem though, the shiny side of this leadership coin shows a glowing promise.
A number of Indian military servicemen have been killed as they exchange fire with Pakistani forces over the LOC border near Kashmir [Xinhua]
Pakistani military sources said on Monday that seven of its servicemen had been killed in overnight shelling from India across the Line of Control (LOC).
According to Pakistani media, Islamabad’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria tweeted strong condemnation of the “continuous unprovoked”.
The expectations are high that US President-elect Donald Trump will achieve progress in the Middle East, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Media offer numerous insights into what his policies will be like. But it should not be forgotten that the US is an Arctic nation. Climate changes are making the region more accessible to human activity. Despite that, the Arctic – an area of economic, technological and political competition and protracted geopolitical rivalry - is undeservedly kept out of media spotlight...

The Times of Israel sent an undercover reporter online for 24 hours. He came back with a list of 23 vile Anti-Semitic websites. I can proudly say I was one of them. But I think their reporter must have spent most of his time ogling Gentile babes on the Internet because he missed a lot of the Nazis. Nazis since WW II have been defined by Judaism Incorporated as anyone who resists the New World Order which by the way insists on killing 5 to 6 billion or more of those pesky Gentiles. Too bad for the Goyim. But who cares what happens to people who aren’t Jewish. Well, I do.
The so-called Trump Rally could really boost chances of a Federal Reserve rate increase in December [Xinhua]
European stocks rallied on Monday’s market open, in tandem with their American counterparts which reached record gains on Friday.
Some analysts have called it the “Trump Rally”.
At press time, London’s FTSE 100 index was up 0.83 per cent to 6,786.62; France’s CAC 40 was up 1.15 per cent to 4,540.96, and in Frankfurt the DAX was up 0.98 per cent to 10,772.35.
A veteran Palestinian thinker and legal expert believes that US President Barack Obama should use his remaining months in the White House to ensure that a UN Security Council resolution recommending the recognition of Palestine be permitted to pass. Camille Mansour, a former Sorbonne professor and adviser to the negotiating team of the PLO, told Al-Monitor, “Now that he is freed from elections-related political shackles, he can allow for Palestine to join the UN as a state under occupation.”
With the incoming administration of Donald J Trump what can we expect the new President to do domestically in the United States? President-elect Trump will be the first occupant of the Oval Office with no previous political or military experience. That in part is why he was elected. To be a completely new fresh force in Washington DC and to take a wrecking ball to the established DC elites. Now that he has been elected President thanks to the Electoral College, not the overall popular vote, what will he actually do within his first 100 days?..
In a disturbing indication of how difficult it would be to bring military spending in line with actual threats overseas, House Armed Services Chairman Rep. Mac Thornberry (R – TX) told President Obama last week that his war funding request of $11.6 billion for the rest of the year was far too low. That figure […]
The recent presidential campaign saw a plethora of open letters directed at Donald Trump, at least two of which were authored and signed by neoconservative foreign policy “experts” denouncing him for challenging their most cherished notions. Now it’s my turn to write an open letter, albeit coming from the opposite direction. Dear President Trump: Unlike […]

Twenty years ago, eight Arctic states established the Arctic Council (AC) to jointly develop the Arctic Region and preserve the environment and culture of the indigenous peoples. Initially, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, the United States, Finland and Sweden held memberships in the Council. Later, other states with interests in the Arctic Region joined the AC. India, China, Singapore, South Korea and Japan were granted the observer status by AC several years ago.
What we usually refer to as the New Dems, the New Democrat Coalition, is, even more than the Blue Dogs, the Republican Wing of the Democratic Party. They're getting ready to elect their next leader and the mailer below is from a slick 3-pager sent to newly-elected New Dems members from Jared Polis-- except he accidentally sent it to a Berniecrat who immediately forwarded it to me, along with Jared's message.
