(ANTIMEDIA) — On Friday morning, protesters blocked newly-confirmed Education Secretary Betsy DeVos from entering a school in Washington, D.C.
The day before that, Representative ’s words were drowned out by taunts from a raucous crowd in Utah.
For all Team-Trump’s tough talk on Iran – and its repetition of the lie that Iran is No. 1 in terrorism – the chances for a major escalation of tensions remain low, reports Gareth Porter for Middle East Eye. By…Read more →

By Jonathan Marshall | Consortium news | February 14, 2117 The unexpected missile launch this weekend by North Korea hit a bulls-eye. Its perfect aim, however, owed more to Pyongyang’s mastery of international theatrics than to rocket technology. Traveling just 310 miles, the intermediate-range Pukguksong-2 missile struck nothing but water in the Sea of Japan. […]
One of the abiding themes of Barack Obama’s Presidency was the supposed intense obstruction he suffered from the Republicans who supposedly were unwilling to compromise with him.
(ZHE) Just two days after North Korea embarrassed both the US and Japan by test-firing a new, nuclear-capable ICBM with a 2000 mile range, with neither Trump nor Abe able to articulate a clear retaliation strategy, moments ago Yonhap news agency reported that the elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been assassinated at Kuala Lumpur airport.
Economic sentiment in emerging economies and Greece, Italy and Portugal is unfavorable [Image: SPIEF]
A World Economic Survey conducted by the Munich-based Ifo economic research institute forecasts strong global growth in the first quarter of the year.
The report highlighted particular growth in Japan and Britain.
It said that in Europe, the economic recovery is gathering impetus.
“Expectations are far more positive than last quarter. The experts surveyed also assessed their current economic situation more favorably,” the report said.
Exclusive: North Korea has learned the lesson that surrendering WMD invites a U.S. invasion and murder of the leader – see Iraq and Libya – but talks to limit risks of another war remain an option, says Jonathan Marshall. By…Read more →
This journalism thingie has gotten so easy, anyone can do it. Let’s play make the fake news funtime!
The elderly may remember the Old Journalism. Back in BT (Before Trump) journalists in mainstream outlets had to gather facts (i.e., true things) from sources (people with names who knew true things) that would withstand fact-checking (looking stuff up, or having a second source confirm stuff.) If you quoted something already established as a fact, you were obligated to link to it.
General Michael Flynn’s resignation as National Security Adviser is by far the biggest blow President Trump has suffered since his inauguration.
Could we see Greeks purchasing their next coffee with USD?
As the Greek debt crisis resurfaces for a third time, Donald Trump’s reported pick as EU ambassador, Professor Ted Malloch, has revealed that senior Greek economists have enquired about the possibility of adopting USD’s if the country crashes out of the eurozone single currency.
Malloch said that Athens is so desperate to quite the eurozone, it is prepared to tie itself to the dollar, much like Puerto Rico.

Yesterday marks the 72nd anniversary of one of the heinous crimes ever committed by the Jewish criminals... I am of course talking about the fire bombing of the German city of Dresden on February 13th, 1945.... On that fateful day, some 250000+ innocent civilians were murdered when Allied bombers dropped incendiary bombs on that city... It truly was a REAL Holocaust! To help remember that day, I want to present the following report that comes from Incogman's website, at www.incogman.net...

A few weeks ago, PPP polled Milwaukee County voters. Less than a month ago I warned that a ‘color revolution ‘ was taking place in the USA. My first element of proof was the so-called “investigation” which the CIA, FBI, NSA and others were conducting against President Trump’s candidate to become National Security Advisor, General Flynn. Tonight, the plot to get rid of Flynn has finally succeeded and General Flynn had to offer his resignation. Trump accepted it.
Wang will speak at length of China’s vision of multilateralism and globalization when he attends the G20 meeting in Bonn on February 15 [Xinhua]
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrives in Bonn, Germany tomorrow to attend a meeting of G20 officials at the invitation of his German counterpart Sigmar Gabriel.
He will also attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference.
The foreign ministers are expected to pave the way for the G20 Summit in Hamburg in July as well as discuss 2030 sustainable development goals.
Today, against the backdrop of the epidemic abuse of painkillers and psychotropic drugs in the US it’s becoming increasingly clear that the results of almost five decades of the so-called war on drugs are nowhere to be found.
Next year, Russia will hold a Presidential election and people are beginning to speculate on who might run and win. Thus far, the only candidate to be nominated by any party is Vladimir Zhirinovsky, founder and leader of the opposition LDPR (Liberal Democratic Party of Russia).
The biggest question people are asking is, ‘will Putin run again’. If he decides to do so, I believe he will win by an even larger margin than in his last election.
Here are the top five reasons why.
5. He weathered the economic storm
Donald Trump’s national security advisor, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, resigned late Monday following an escalating controversy in Washington over reports that he discussed anti-Russian sanctions with Moscow’s ambassador to the US in the month before President Donald Trump took office. Speculation within the media was rife Monday that Flynn could either be fired or forced to resign following the[Read More...]

OPEC total production declines would have been stronger had it not been increased output from Iran and Nigeria [Xinhua]
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has revised upward its predictions for global oil demand in 2017.
An OPEC report pointed to the improving state of the world’s economy as a key driver for higher oil demand which is expected to grow at 1.2 million barrels a day.
The International Energy Agency forecasts a growth in demand at a rate of 1.4 million barrels a day.
As the fascist forces escalate their aggression against the Donbass Republics, many are questioning what the future of the Republic of Ukraine will look like in the medium and long term. The state as presently compromised will not survive but a few more years at the very most.
History is full of states coming and going/changing their borders. The idea that this state will evaporate into the annals of history is not novel. It will be one of many.
Here’s why.
1. There is no historical precedent for such a state
There is a constant refrain from British political leaders how Britain is still a major military force to be reckoned with in the world and this allows the country to punch above it's middle ranking economic and political power status. The Prime Minister Theresa May has constantly stressed how Britain is a leading member of NATO and spends 2% of UK GDP on defence...
“Freedom is the recognition of necessity.” — Friedrich Engels
One of the most important aspects of economic partnership between states is cooperation in such areas as transportation and logistics. As it could be expected, the intense development of economic relations between Russia and China was soon followed by the rapid growth and integration of their transportation systems, which leads to the ever growing traffic increase between states.
ISIS and their followers are first and foremost a human tragedy. They are despicable death cults which kill in the most barbaric ways imaginable. They enslave people, rape women and children, and degrade the most fundamental elements of human dignity.
But beyond this, ISIS and Al-Qaeda are also a plague to culture. These terrorists do not resist destroying ancient monuments, artifacts, sculptures, paintings, musical instruments and have frequently attacked people for the ‘crime’ of watching football matches.
