Syria: US Signals To Russia They Will Hit Syria if Chemical Weapons are Deployed

Syrian air defenses were placed on high alert Monday, according to a report in the pro-regime news site Al Masdar.
The Syrian air defenses have been placed on highest alert across the country, pro-government reporters claimed this afternoon.These reports seem to have some truth behind them because a source at the Mezzeh Airbase said that they have been ordered to make preparations for a possible attack on Damascus.
The reason for placing the air defenses on the highest alert was not revealed; however, it is believed to be due to the potential threat of a U.S. strike on the capital or its surrounding area.A source told the newspaper that the Mazzeh airbase was preparing to defend against a possible US missile attack on Damascus.Earlier in the day a top Russian official said the US was bolstering its military forces in the Middle East in preparation for a strike against Syrian government forces, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
