Like I've been saying for months, we'll never really know-- not definitively-- the extent of Russia's interference in the 2016 election.
Last night CNN reported that Obama vowed retaliatory action against Russia for its meddling in the US presidential election. Right on top of that, Rachel Maddow, on MSNBC, declared Putin the richest man/kleptocrat on earth and that U.S. intelligence services are preparing to hit him in his pocketbook.
I hope you read Tom Sullivan's post, Donald In Wonderland, yesterday at Digby's place. The Donald isn't the only one wandering around cluelessly in Wonderland though. Much, if not most, of his fan base is too.

This has been a really bad year for Renee Ellmers. The North Carolina Republican was the first woman in Congress to endorse the misogynistic Trump. And he appreciated it-- although the folks in the 2nd congressional district, most of whom had voted for Cruz in the primary, didn't like he jumping on the Trump bandwagon. She then got locked into a horrific three-way primary of her own, the first in which Trump endorsed a candidate; and he even recorded an ad for her. It backfired badly.

The Republican Party-- especially although not exclusively the Trumpanzee Republican Party-- combines a hatred and bigtry wing with a greed and selfishness wing. And the chat between Dan Rather and Rachel Maddow in the video above focused on David Bossie from the former and Robert Mercer from the latter, both equally dangerous to the country and equally contemptible. The kind of people who support Trump and the same kinds of haters and sociopaths that supported the breakup of the U.S. leading up to the Civil War.
