Trump refuses to defend America against Russia's cyber war on the core of our alleged democracy itself, a war he well knows Russia will step up later this year and in 2020. First, he brazenly asked for Russia's help during his campaign by asking for Hillary's emails, and we know now there is much, much more.

Do you remember when Señor Trumpanzee insisted he wouldn't come to England unless he got to ride around with the Queen in her gold coach? He's made all kinds of crazy demands since then-- much to the delight of the Brits, who clearly don't want him.

On Friday, while the Senate was trying too figure out how to not shut down the government, the House voted to table-- like in kill-- another impeachment resolution. Just so we're all on the same page here, a vote to impeach Trumpanzee is not the same as removing him from office. It just begins the process with hearings and an investigation by the House Judiciary Committee. Why would anyone deny that is warranted.

The Trumpist forces of authoritarianism are circling the wagons. Trump and his allies have no intention of going down quietly and care not a whit of what damages they do to a constitutional democracy— which they abhor anyway— in the process of preserving their own grasp on power.

When I say the question of impeachment is vexing Democrats, I don’t mean the millions of Democratic voters and small donors. They overwhelmingly want to see Trump impeached. I would venture to guess they want to see Trump in a cage. But I’m not venturing a guess about impeachment.

On Wednesday morning the House Democratic caucus voted to replace John Conyers as Ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee with Jerry Nadler (D-NY). The secret ballot was 118 votes for Nadler and 72 for Zoe Lofgren (D-CA).
