From Ochelli.com Mike Swanson gave us an education on the stock market. Is a Corona Virus enough disruption to topple the grand casino? What is a junk bond? When did value lose touch with balance sheets? Do any of the numbers make any sense? Have the weapons of mass distraction in the MSM fooled everyone […]
In our mid-season review and analysis of Homeland season 7, Pearse and I get into various strands of the show including the Brett O’Keefe/Waco arc, the Russiagate conspiracy, how the CIA should be portrayed as having utterly failed the country but have somehow dressed themselves up as the heroes, fake news, Russian ‘active measures’ and […](Read more...)
Tom Secker joins e today for our mid season breakdown of Homeland Season 7. We start off by discussing the first major arc of the season, the Ruby Ridge/Waco standoff between O’Keefe and and the FBI. Tom and I discuss the surprisingly balanced approach Homeland has taken to this topic. We discuss the idea that this is a clever attempt at portraying the CIA as the adults in the room willing to negotiate, as opposed to the psychotic gun totting FBI. Tom Secker of Spy Culture joins me to discuss the season 7 premiere of Homeland. We start off by giving a quick recap of the previous season which saw a faction of the deep state attempt to assassinate President Elect Elibazeth Keane. Tom and I then dive into this season, which breaks with Homeland protocol, and picks up 52 days after the events of season 6.
Today I am joined by friend of the show Caram Kapp. Caram was last on episode 42 The Homeland Hackers, and returns to discuss the Egyptian uprising six years later. We start off by discussing the basics of the uprising and some of the behind the scenes actors. Caram explains his own experiences as an Egyptian, and as someone who was there on the ground around this time. We touch on the rumors of Western manipulation and how some of these allegations have overshadowed the real life grievances of the Egyptian populace and their reasons for wanting to get rid of Mubarak.
A new report by Facebook's Threat Intelligence team says that the site is rife with fake accounts spreading fake news stories for political, social, cultural and economic reasons. Viewers of the recent season of Homeland will be thinking 'no shit'. Then they'll be thinking 'wait, Facebook produces intelligence assessments just like the CIA?'(Read more...)
In our final analysis and review for Homeland season 6 Pearse and I dissect the last two episodes, looking at the shifting loyalties and role reversals around the attempted assassination of the president-elect. We look at how Homeland has latched onto a number of ideas that have become popular in recent months, most obviously the notions of Fake News and the Deep State, and portrayed these ideas in a subtle and complex light.
