The Trump administration is once against throwing its weight around, making threats, and offering to disrupt international relations. Washington’s officials are on a tour to inform world leaders that they will not be spared secondary sanctions from the United States should they not have closed out their oil imports from Iran by the end of a November 4th deadline, and not even allies are being prepared an exemption to the rule.

In much the same manner as the US attempted to kill the S-400 deal with Turkey, they are now setting out to end India’s defense relationship with Russia, especially if they can manage to undermine this SAM deal. The idea is to utilize sanctions to get the job done. If the US can manage to dissuade India from buying their SAM systems from India over fear that they might contravene some sanction issued by Washington, then that’s what they aim to do, while simultaneously offering America’s THAAD system to New Delhi as a replacement.

Volvo Cars has just opened a brand new plant in Berkeley, South Carolina, that was expected to employ up to about 4,000 people. Lots of production and jobs are on the line as the effects of Trump’s metals tariffs work their way down the food chain. Several companies that utilize steel as a primary material for the products they produce are concerned about how these tariffs will impact their competitiveness, their workforce, and their bottom lines.

So Trump has embarked on a trade war with America’s trading partners to convince the manufacturers to bring production back home and America’s trade allies to provide more equitable trade terms to America.

When Trump ran on creating more good paying American jobs and on creating a more business friendly environment, many took him seriously and backed him at the polls. Among that number are those manufacturers that happen to still be producing in America, for whatever reason.
