Report: US has highest income inequality in the Western world

UN ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, withdrew the US from the UN Human Rights Council just days before a report was to be presented detailing the threat which poverty poses to human rights in America, and the threat which it poses to America’s democracy. Haley’s withdrawal took place on Tuesday, and UN Special Rapporteur Philip Alston’s report came out on Friday.

Survival of Trans-Atlantic Alliance sees no guarantees

NATO head Jens Stoltenberg touted the unifying nature of the NATO Alliance in his call for a greater commitment to its mission. Stoltenberg got around to promoting this necessity because of the threats that are posed by Russia, cyber attacks, terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. But he seems to ignore the fact that many of the threats to the security of the Western order are artificial or manufactured by NATO’s primary member and benefactor, the United States of America.

US media in all-out effort to stop Trump-Putin summit

Recently, plans for a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin were announced.
The report was first disclosed rather quietly late on a Friday evening three weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal, and subsequent reports indicated more and more details in terms of both the intent and the stage of planning conducted for these meetings. Hopes are rising that this meeting will lead to a normalization of relations between the US and Russia.
Over the past two weeks, the press has tried to destroy this narrative.

Assad: Talks with US a ‘waste of time’

Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, pointed out in a recent interview that he thinks that negotiating with the Americans is essentially a fruitless endeavour, in his words ‘a waste of time’. The Americans can’t be trusted to abide by anything they say because in reality the US leadership is beholden to special interest groups, the media, and multinational corporations.

House Republicans plan cuts to all infrastructure spending to support massive military budget

A 2019 budget plan cooked up by House Republicans aims at cutting all federal spending that isn’t defense related in an effort to reign in the debt problem. It includes massive cuts to medicare, medicaid, Social Security, education grants, welfare, and other programs aimed and softening the blow of America’s growing poverty rate. Meanwhile, this comes about while Trump is cutting taxes on the rich, introducing a ‘Space Force’, and providing massive increases to military spending.

Amid escalating trade war, China cuts US investment by 92%

US president Donald Trump’s ‘beautiful’ trade war with China is going great, if market drops, loss of investment, volatility, and price hikes are how one measures ‘winning’.
After all, Trump said that trade wars are ‘easy to win’ and sometimes necessary.
Now he’s got one, but the figures are returning the sort of results that one would typically associate with ‘winning’ or ‘success’.
