(ANTIMEDIA) — In the wake of Bitcoin’s meteoric rise in popularity, interest in the dynamics of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has skyrocketed over the past year. With bank-based blockchain projects poised to revolutionize the world of financial services, researchers continue to study the new technology to better understand the inner-workings of the blockchain, as well its economic, social, […]
For over a decade it's been hard to find anyone "credible" (or at least "establishment") to run against Paul Ryan. For 4 cycles, Pelosi and her team laughed hysterically as the Ryan family orthopedist, Jeffrey Thomas, was the official candidate of the Democratic party against Ryan. Isn't that cute? It wasn't 'til Rob Zerban ran against him in 2012 that Ryan had a real opponent, albeit still one Pelosi's DCCC gang refused to support in any meaningful way.

The Democrats are incredulous, one might suppose. They cannot seem to get over the fact that President Trump is simply not like they are.
After all, their party rigged their own primary in 2016 to make sure that Hillary Rodham Clinton was to be the nominee. The Party threw their very popular candidate, Bernie Sanders, completely under the bus. Of course, he also opted to join them, despite his own campaign rhetoric being in stark contradiction with much of what Hillary’s campaign was about.

This week’s show features a recent talk by Peter Phillips at Sonoma State University titled “Giants – The Global Power Elite.” Extending the ideas of C. Wright Mills, Peter Phillips contends that a few hundred corporate managers and billionaires now control the majority of the world’s wealth, and thus are today’s ruling “transnational corporate class” (‘TCC’). He identifies these corporations and individuals in a forthcoming book. Peter Phillips is a Professor of Sociology at Sonoma State University, and a former director of Project Censored.

By Scott Ritter | TruthDig | April 20, 2018 It was a scene that has played out before the American public on multiple occasions in recent history: Representatives of the American defense establishment walked out onto a stage backed by light-blue drapery sporting an oval-shaped sign containing the words “Pentagon” and, below it in smaller […]
Think of traffic congestion as the cost of using a freeway. Now think about the forces of supply and demand in a normal market. If you increase the supply of product X, more people will consume product X. But that's only because the price is now lower. It would be wrong to claim that the increased supply of product X caused so much more demand that the price rose right back up to the original level. Indeed "demand" doesn't increase at all, rather quantity demanded rises due to the lower price.

(MEE) — A senior Israeli politician has said Ahed Tamimi “should have gotten a bullet” for slapping an Israeli soldier. “In my opinion, she should have gotten a bullet, at least in the kneecap,” said Bezalel Smotrich, a member of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party, on Twitter. “That would have put her under house arrest for the […]

It has been pointed out that young business people are showing their generation that “most businesses are not faceless multinational corporations run by greedy fat cats in pinstripe suits smoking huge Churchillian cigars.” Debunking that stereotype is important. But just as important is fighting that mischaracterization of multinationals.
(CD) — Weeks after President Donald Trump thanked Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince for his country’s use of U.S. military power, the U.S.-backed coalition bombed a wedding party in Yemen, killing at least 20 civilians including the bride. The number of casualties is expected to rise. On social media, journalist Glenn Greenwald reminded readers of the U.S. connection to Saudi Arabia’s […]
The white sheep that constituted the majority of the country had it pretty nice. They were regularly fleeced, and a sizeable number of them were regularly sent to the slaughterhouse for the consumption of white wolves, but for the rest of time, their life was relatively well regulated and protected. At least, that’s what their newspapers, called SheepPost, SheepTimes, and SheepGuardian, were telling them.

Updated below: Reports now say 33-40 killed.
The latest Saudi coalition atrocity against Yemeni civilians was another attack on a wedding party, killing 20 people including the bride and wounding dozens more:

This is Erich Brenn. This is my mind. And this is how I handle so many issues simultaneously without showing the deep levels of insanity that such has inspired. F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “the test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.”
New York: Federal prosecutors approved subpoenas to Kushner Companies based on a report by AP that found the real estate company repeatedly filed forms with the New York City Department of Buildings claiming they owned no rent-controlled apartment units while actually possessing hundreds of such units. The false filings allowed Kushner Companies to raise rents and, in turn, sell those buildings at a great profit two years later. [...]
Kelo v. City of New London effectively turned an explicit constitutional right into a nullity. Though the language of the Fifth Amendment is clear—"nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation"—state and local governments for years had been getting away with using eminent domain to facilitate what amounted to private development. The New London case offered a perfect opportunity to end that abuse by reaffirming that when the Constitution says "public use," it means public use. Instead, it did the opposite, and Americans were appalled.
Congress finally received the 'electronic communication', which is the original reason why counterintelligence spied on the Trump campaign alleging they colluded with Russia, but no official intelligence was used to open the investigation, which indicates the investigation was illegal. Congress is investigating the US State Department because its info was leaked to the FBI. Four of Comey's memos were classified and he laundered them through a friend who leaked them to the New York Times in order to open a special counsel investigation- also illegal.
By Philip Giraldi | American Herald tribune | April 23, 2108 The complicity of America’s Fourth Estate in the evolution of the national security warfare state is often mentioned in passing but rarely analyzed in any detail. Racial discrimination in the country, Thomas Sowell wrote, was not a result of free enterprise. Instead, it was a consequence of the government’s attempt to protect white workers from their black competitors. “If capitalism can be described as the unfettered operation of the market in the allocation of society’s scarce resources,” he concluded, “then apartheid is the antithesis of capitalism.”
“I address you for the last time as a head of state. Nikol Pashinyan was right. I made a mistake. In this situation, there are several solutions, but I will not resort to any of them. That’s not my thing. I abandon the post of the head of our country,” Serzh Sargsyan said as quoted by his press service.
Nikol Pashinyan, the opposition leader, was released earlier today after he had been detained on Sunday after failing to reach any deal in brief talks with Sargsyan, who called for a dialogue between the government and opposition.

Metabolic Rifts Today. Beginning a new series by Ian Angus, on how contemporary science illuminates and extends metabolic rift theory in the 21st century.
