RT | December 24, 2019 The Guardian has corrected an article describing a “plot” to “smuggle” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange out of London, more than a year after publication. Russia called the article “disinformation and fake news” from the outset. Assange is currently languishing in London’s Belmarsh Prison, awaiting a hearing on his extradition to […]
A great poet once said that you can judge a nation by how it honors (or fails to honor) its artists. In many ways, the soul of a nation is entirely shaped by the artists which that society has produced. This makes perfectly good sense, as an artist is able to portray the better ideals which that society yearns to become and can convey concepts on a nearly subconscious level that may either uplift our self conception to the divine or inversely inflame our basest passions.
A new world order is here, and Trump’s impeachment is playing a roll. For nearly three years the planet has been turned upside down, threats of war, endless sanctions, treaties tossed aside, trade agreements trashed and, just perhaps, a pattern is emerging.
“Madness or method,” these are the questions we will examine.
[Prefatory Note: This is a modified version of an earlier text published in TMS (Transcend Media Service) in the December 23-29, 2019 edition. For the sake of discouraging anti-Semitism and restoring freedom of expression in Western constitutional democracies denouncing the branding of those in solidarity with struggles for justice and rights on behalf of the Palestinian people should be high on the policy agenda of 2020, and yet we have so far heard only the silence of the lambs in the debates of Democrats seeking the presidential nomination.]

All the 25 defendants, accused of trafficking almost 200 kids from Tandarei [a small town in Ialomita County, Romania] were acquitted. Yesterday, the Court of Appeal at Targu Mures gave the final, albeit scandalous decision in this sordid case. Not only that, but the now acquitted culprits aim to sue the Romanian state at the European Court for Human Rights. Nine years ago, this case shocked the country as well as the European Union.
Montenegro will deploy troops along its borders in response to the growing number of migrants crossing over into the country, on a new Balkan route toward the European Union. Last year, around 8000 migrants from North Africa and the Middle East crossed Montenegro, heading West, toward the richer countries. This number is double that registered in 2018 according to the International Organization for Migration.

Congress and the White House compete in year-end stupidity sweepstakes By Philip Giraldi | Unz Review | December 24, 2019 At the end of the nineteenth century, Lord Palmerston stated what he thought was obvious, that “England has no eternal friends, England has no perpetual enemies, England has only eternal and perpetual interests.” Palmerston was […]

Ever since the arrival of leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin on the monetary scene over a decade ago, financial experts have speculated whether this new virtual currency might one day supplant the primacy of nationally-issued sovereign money. Due to the transformative power of its distributed ledger, or “blockchain” technology, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have been able to bypass the US dollar-dominated central banking and credit system by providing a low cost peer-to-peer money transfer alternative. But is it enough to tip the global scales?

2019 has been a difficult year for the European Union (EU) and it appears 2020 will be no different with many challenges and issues remaining unresolved after a turbulent year. The most obvious issue is the lingering Brexit saga that was not achieved and questions remain whether it is likely to be achieved by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson with the looming January 31 deadline.

Dear Donors,
Thank you for your support in 2019. Although you have kept me working yet another year, I find it encouraging that there are some Americans who can think independently and who want to know. As Margaret Mead said, it only takes a few determined people to change the world. Perhaps some of you will be those people.

Lately the war on Christmas has come to resemble the Lebanese Civil War. That is to say, there are endless combatants and no one seems to remember what they’re fighting for anymore.
First read about this strike on Sunday... but couldn’t find anything else to discern if it had actually occurred or if we’re being spoon fed some more war time propaganda. Then additional reports surfaced and yes it seems that an attack did take place. Undertaken via drones launched from Al Tanf, the US occupation/terror base in Syria. The drone attack preceded the Israeli strikes on Syria by one day. Coordination?
After almost a century the United States has finally taken a definitive stand on the Armenian Genocide committed by the Turks. Many in the Independent Media are discussing the “why now” standpoint of this issue, but it is actually far more important to deal with the “what next” question, as any confirmation of genocide by the world’s only hyperpower is going to have long-term consequences.
Senator Elizabeth Warren and Mayor Pete Buttigieg brought a heated exchange to the debate stage Thursday night on the topic of campaign financing. Warren brought up Buttigieg’s recent close-door fundraiser, which she described as “a wine cave full of crystals” that served $900 bottles of wine. In response, Buttigieg said he was the only one of the seven candidates on the stage who was not a millionaire or billionaire.

It is likely that Boris Johnson will be prime minister of the United Kingdom for the next ten years, which is a sobering thought, and it is necessary that speculation as to his possible intentions on the international stage include examination of his personality and past record.
