Beirut, Eva Bartlett:
December 9, 2014 (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - Israel has once again conducted air strikes against the Syrian government and its people, in yet another act of unprovoked aggression and international criminality.
The current power sharing government among factions in Afghanistan will likely be as successful as the one in Iraq during the Nouri al-Maliki period: not very. A viable democracy is only possible if fair elections produce an acknowledged winner and a losing loyal opposition exists – at least one loyal enough not to fatally undermine […]
Hopefully, Russians realize that our House of Representatives often passes thunderous resolutions to pander to special interests, which have no bearing on the thinking or actions of the U.S. government. Last week, the House passed such a resolution 411-10. As ex-Rep. Ron Paul writes, House Resolution 758 is so “full of war propaganda that it […]

The Zionist obsession with the presence of non-Jews in historical Palestine is as old as Israel itself. First Israeli Prime Minister, the Polish David Ben Gurion, lamented in 1948 on their failure to “clear the entire central Galilee region” of the Palestinians.

DC on BFP #60 | Aaron Cantú details the case of Eric Garner, the 43-year-old father of six who NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo choked to death last July; the failings of the grand jury system in both the Garner case and Michael Brown in Ferguson; and why police are the "most violent parts of white supremacy distilled down to human form."
RadioWHO #2 | Paul Alan Smith joins us to discuss why he left a lucrative job at one of Hollywood’s most influential agencies to found his own company, and shares his perspectives on the way Hollywood shapes American culture, the media's role in "democracy," and the establishment's last word on Hollywood productions.
A dark cloud now hangs over the alternative media. Race politics, Nazi sympathy, and "white genocide" have become the jumping off points for a rising faction within the alt media sphere. Now is the time to point out this obvious fact.
In 2009 when Rahm Emanuel resigned from Congress, many of us who aren't from Chicago got to know union activist Tom Geoghegan for the first time. When he decided to run for Emanuel's seat, we did a series of posts about him and his accomplishments here. The special election primary had 26 candidates, including 13 Democrats and 5 Greens-- a real clusterfuck.

Reprieve | December 8, 2014 The criminal court in Algiers today dropped all charges against Reprieve’s client, Ahmad Belbacha, citing “lack of evidence” as the reason for its decision. The decision overturned a 20-year sentence which the court had given Ahmad in 2009 – in a hearing that neither Ahmad, his family, or any lawyer […]
Against this background, there was no way we could support this armed coup, the violence and the killings. Just take the bloody events in Odessa, where people were burned alive. How can the subsequent attempts to suppress people in Ukraine’s southeast, who oppose this mayhem, be supported? I reiterate that there was no way we could endorse these developments. What’s more, they were followed by hypocritical statements on the protection of international law and human rights. This is just cynical.
The countries that South Stream would have served, do not have a back-up supplier to meet their growing gas needs. So by following Washington’s lead, they’ve basically shot themselves in the foot. Analysts figure that any replacement for Russian gas will probably be 30 percent more expensive then they would have paid Gazprom.
Hurrah for the US! Hurrah for stupidity!

The tribunal has almost never sided against the government, so today’s decision did not come as a surprise to those following the proceedings, much of which happened behind closed doors. The matter isn’t entirely over, however: The judges said they would still consider specific instances where data collection on the groups may have violated their rights.

Terrorism cannot be destroyed from the air, and you cannot achieve results on the ground without land forces who know the geographical details of the regions and move in tandem with the airstrikes. That’s why, and after two months of the alliance’s airstrikes, there are no tangible results on the ground in that direction. And that’s why saying that the alliance’s airstrikes are helping us is not true.

US neo-cons are also sharpening their spears. As soon as early 2015 there may be a Ukrainian Freedom Act approved by the US Congress. Translation: Ukraine as a “major US non-NATO ally” which means, in practice, a NATO annexation. Next step; more turbo-charged neo-con provocation of Russia.

Most telling is that Monbiot does not even suggest that this area of corporate power needs fixing, let alone propose ways it might be done. That, ultimately, is because he is an employee of a corporation, one that sets implicit limits on what he can write about in relation to an area that is his stated expertise.
