The area I was standing in was made safe only a few days previously by the SAA victory in Douma and East Ghouta as a whole. Under the surrender terms Jaysh al Islam agreed to release all their kidnapped civilians, a number believed to be around 5000. All the families of these disappeared turned up hoping to be reunited with them, but only 200 people emerged from the tunnels. The others had all been killed.

While on my recent trip to Syria I met the fabulous Pierre le Corf, who has not only helped so many children who have suffered in the conflict there, but has also opened an animal sanctuary in Aleppo. I put to Pierre while filming him that many people would ask why, amidst so much human suffering, he would choose to help animals? His reply was both moving and profound.
Greatly concerned about these accusations and desperate to rehabilitate ourselves in the eyes of this responsible citizen - and also hopefully mitigate any punishment by OFCOM, a body we both fear and respect - Mike Raddie responded with the urgency such an indictment deserves; almost immediately, in fact, after he'd made himself a nice curry, drank a few glasses of wine, and finished re-watching the last three episodes of Breaking Bad.
