Texas Judge Apologizes for Saying Black Cop Killer Suspect Should be Lynched

A Texas judge apologized Wednesday over a racist comment posted on Facebook suggesting a black man suspected of killing a San Antonio cop should be lynched.
Burnet County Judge James Oakley wrote that it’s “time for a tree and a rope” underneath the mugshot of accused cop killer Otis Tyrone McKane.
The judge denies it was a racist statement.

Drunk Florida Cop who Claimed She was Targeted in Drive-by Shooting Resigns after Investigation Shows She Lied

A Florida cop who claimed she was shot at in a drive-by shooting while walking her dog, forcing her to return fire on the suspects, resigned last week after an internal affairs investigation determined she was drunk and lied about what happened.
Daytona Beach police officer Michelle Smith’s lies became evident to investigators when her victims provided them with three Snapchat videos that depict her as the aggressor.

Texas Deputies Taser Woman in Wheelchair for Recording

Harris County sheriff’s sheriff deputies tasered a woman in a wheelchair, and again while she was on the ground handcuffed.
All because she was video recording them.
The incident at the Valero gas station on Northborough Drive in northwest Houston Nov. 16, was caught on surveillance cameras and Internal Affairs is now investigating.
Investigators will look into whether any policies were violated by sheriff’s deputies when they tasered the woman.

Texas Jailer Arrested for Thrusting Baton into Inmate’s Anus Multiple Times

A Texas jailer was arrested and fired after he tried to wake up an inmate for fingerprints and a mugshot by thrusting a baton into his anus, according to a criminal complaint.
It was such a egregious act, several  jailers who witnessed the assault gave sworn statements against their fellow detention officer, 32-year-old Michael David Hinojosa of Mercedes, confirming the inmate’s story.
One jailer “confirmed that he observed Detention Officer Michael Hinojosa push his ASP baton into [the inmate’s] anus four to five times.”

The family of an Iowa woman who was fatally shot by a cop trying to kill her family’s dog filed a lawsuit last week.
Autumn Steele, 34, was shot by Burlington cop Jesse Hill on January 6, 2015 as her 3-year-old son stood next to her.
Autumn Steele, 34, died after she was accidentally shot by Burlington cop Jesse Hill, who was trying to shoot her dog.
Hill responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Steel’s residence and discovered the couple having a verbal disagreement.

Missouri Man Remains Imprisoned Despite Police Commissioner and Prosecutor Saying he is Innocent

A Kansas City man who has been in prison for two decades for a double murder has long claimed he is innocent.
And now a Kansas City Police commissioner as well as a former prosecutor who have reviewed his case are also saying he is innocent.
But Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster said it’s too late for Ricky Kidd because he did not appeal it in time.

Pennsylvania Governor Vetoes Bill that Would have Illegalized Release of Names of Cops who Kill in Line of Duty

Pennsylvania politicians tried their best to pass a law making it illegal to release the names of cops who shoot citizens that result in death of “seriously bodily harm” for at least 30 days from the incident or until an investigation is completed.
The bill sailed through both the house and the senate with legislators on both sides of the political spectrum saying it was important to hide the identities of cops who kill for their own safety – even though there has not been any documented cases of killer cops being retaliated against for their actions.

Milwaukee Jailers Mock and Ignore Pregnant Inmate Going into Labor, Resulting in Baby’s Death, Lawsuit Claims

A mentally ill inmate whose baby died after jailers laughed at her and ignored her requests for medical attention when her water broke is suing the Milwaukee County Jail where three other people have died since April.
Shade Swayzer is suing for $8.5 million, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

California Deaf Man Beaten, Tasered and Choked by Police for not Understanding Commands Awarded $55,000 Settlement

After mistaking a deaf man for a thief, beating him, tasering him and choking him because he was unable to understand their commands, the Hawthorne Police Department in southwest Los Angeles has settled a lawsuit for $55,000. The settlement was approved by the City Council on Tuesday.
The deaf man identified as Jonathan Meister and co-plaintiff Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness Inc. will receive the settlement on the basis of civil rights violations under the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

Houston Cop Sued for Unprovoked Beating of Handcuffed Inmate Caught on Video

A Houston cop beat an inmate as he was booking him into Houston City Jail. Surveillance cameras captured the beating but the officer received only a slap on the wrist.
Now the victim, who ended up with a permanent scar on his forehead, is suing the Houston Police Department.
Rueben Williams, who filed the lawsuit this week, was arrested on a DUI charge back on November 2014 by Officer S. Corral, who then beat him on his way to a holding cell.
