Michigan “Officer of the Year” Negligently Fires Gun in Classroom, Striking Teacher in Neck

A Michigan school resources officer and former “Officer of the Year” negligently fired a shot while toying with his gun inside a classroom Friday, shooting a teacher in the neck while she was teaching class in the next room.
Police say the teacher was not injured because the bullet did not penetrate her skin, but they are not even releasing her name or any other information.
All we know is that Bay County sheriff’s deputy Adam Brown is on paid leave until the “investigation” is complete.

Missouri Pays $9 Million Settlement to Family of Brandon Ellingson, Man who Drowned while Handcuffed in Custody of Police

The family of a man who fell off a police boat while handcuffed and allowed to drown by the Missouri state trooper operating the boat will receive a $9 million settlement, attorneys announced Thursday.
And there is still a chance the cop will be convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Brandon Ellingson, a 20-year-old college student from Iowa who had been arrested for boating while intoxicated.

Minnesota Cop who Shot and Killed Philando Castile Charged with Manslaughter

The Minnesota cop who shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop this year after the 32-year-old man said he was legally carrying a concealed weapon was charged with second-degree manslaughter today.
St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez was also charged with two felony counts of dangerous discharge of a gun, which endangered the lives of Castile’s girlfriend and her four-year-old daughter sitting in the back seat of the car.

NYPD Union Boss’ Son Stripped of Badge and Gun for Not Reporting Negligent Discharge

The cop son of NYPD’s loudmouth union boss Patrick Lynch was stripped of his badge and gun for fleeing the scene of a shooting Sunday night.
Kevin Lynch, 23, was hanging out with another NYPD cop named Robert Smilove, 22, who is also the son of a cop, when Smilove negligently pulled the trigger of a gun he had purchased, firing a bullet through the window of a pickup truck they were sitting in.

California Cop Receives $175,000 Settlement for Racial Discrimination; Second Settlement in Eight Years

Former Chula Vista Police Officer David Mitchell will receive a $175,000 settlement from the city after he was fired for making complaints of racism from his superiors. The settlement was reached this week.
Mitchell was a lieutenant with the San Diego Police Department, a position he obtained after suing the department for racial discrimination in 2008 in a case that settled.
The California cop retired in 2014, then joined the ranks of the Chula Vista Police Department, just south of San Diego, the following year at the age of 61.

Ohio Protester Asking Charges be Dropped Against Autistic Man who Shoved him Down Stairs

Turns out, it is not clear if the man caught on video shoving an anti-Trump protester from behind is even a Trump supporter.
What is known is that the man suffers from Asperger Syndrome and the attack was not political in nature.
The protester who ended up getting shoved from behind is asking that the charges be dropped against him.

The videos show police interrogating the two teenagers, who along with a third, police suspected of stealing a police SUV after breaking into a business and stealing rolled coins.

Chicago Cop Charged by Feds with Sex Trafficking of Minor

A Chicago cop with a long history of complaints against him was arrested on his way to work Tuesday and charged with sex trafficking a 14-year-old girl as well as producing child pornography.
William Whitley, a 26-year veteran, is being held in federal custody without bond after U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez determined the 60-year-old cop was a flight risk.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars if he’s convicted of sex trafficking the minor.
