Three weeks after four US special forces soldiers were killed in a firefight in the landlocked West African nation of Niger, information has surfaced indicating that the American troops and their Nigerien counterparts were involved in a “capture-kill” mission aimed at the leader of a local Islamist militia operating on the Niger-Mali border.
As 21WIRE reported earlier this week, Israel’s violation of Lebanese airspace (supposedly to bomb a Hezbollah convoy driving from Syria to Lebanon) prompted the Syrian Arab Army to launch a SA-5 (S-200) ground to air missile, towards the Israeli jets flying over Lebanon, which then prompted the Israeli Air Force to retaliate by flying over the occupied Golan Heights and target a Syria Army ground position.
A few weeks back I got an email with the question: “What is it about Germany that seems to make socialism work?” Not due to socialism, but thanks to Ludwig Erhard’s radical pro-market reforms, the modest monetary policy by the Bundesbank over decades, the internal devaluation of the 1990s, and the reforms of Gerhard Schröder and the Social Democrats in 2004, Germany is successful today.
I know I must sound like a broken record by now, but Wall Street owns the U.S. economy and until that's dealt with, the American public will continue to be preyed upon voraciously and lawlessly by some of the most unethical parasites the world has ever seen. Obama was a historical disaster on this issue, coddling and protecting banker oligarchs every step of the way. Trump's no different.
The latest evidence that things are getting even worse came last evening when the U.S. Senate voted to deliver Wall Street another gift on a silver platter.

By Daniel McAdams | Ron Paul Institute | October 21, 2017 This may be one of the cruelest and most cynical moves of Washington in its entire dark “regime change Syria” chapter. Serbian media sources are reporting, based on quotes from US Embassy Belgrade personnel, that the United States has sought and been given assurances […]
Alan Grayson isn't running for Congress again-- at least not so far. He's been doing other work, like working on very time-consuming legal cases against the Trump Regime. But another thing Alan is doing is helping raise campaign funds for other progressive who are running for Congress. And today he's asking his supporters to contribute to an especially great candidate in central Illinois, Dr.
By Valery Kulikov – New Eastern Outlook – 24.10.2017 As forces of the so-called Islamic State terrorist group are pushed across Syria and Iraq, one can clearly see Israel’s shifting position regarding the situation in Syria, which can be explained by Tel-Aviv’s desire to reorder the Middle East. It’s clear that Israel has finally realized […]
With a public debt-to-GDP ratio of 85 percent, continuous deficit spending, and rank 16 in the richest countries with the most wasteful government spending, you’d think that Austrians would be demanding an approach which comes closer to the actual Austrian School of Economics. But, in the light of the latest election, why are there actually no Austrians in Austria anymore?

Twenty-two years ago, Jeremy Rifkin wrote The End of Work. Almost immediately, we entered one of the greatest periods of job creation in history. The end of work is something we never have to fear. We won't run out of it until we run out of things we want.

By James W. Carden | Consortium News | October 24, 2017 Last year, Donald J. Trump triumphed over 15 Republican primary opponents and a Democratic candidate with an impressive résumé largely on the strength of a simple four-word message: “Make America Great Again.” Trump’s slogan worked even though President Obama offered the rejoinder, “America is […]
It's important to approach the subject of guns and gun control with a cool and rational mind. It's easy to make snap judgments in the heat of the moment that feel good but might not have any bearing on reality. Now that we've gained a little distance from the horrific shooting in Las Vegas, what do the data say about gun deaths and gun violence in America? Is it really as bad as it seems? James Harrigan and Antony Davies break down the statistics for us in this week's episode of Words and Numbers.
Despite the fact that reports of an imminent end to the Syrian war and the beginning of its economic recovery appear quite often, it is still too early to say that the Syrian Arab Republic is entering a peaceful phase of its development. The latest developments in the East and South of the country are further proof of this, especially considering what is happening in the areas of Iraq which border Syria.

By Adam Johnson | FAIR | October 23, 2017 In considering why “the public is quiet” about the United States’ unending wars, the New York Times (10/23/17) fails to examine the failure of leading media outlets to actually oppose these wars. Corporate media have a long history of lamenting wars they themselves helped sell the […]

Ryan Carey joins me once again to explore the strange world of comic books. We begin by looking at freelance comic writer Nick Spencer and his Nazi Captain America story-line. Ryan gives us an overview of Spencer’s reboot which has Captain America as a secret Nazi working for the evil “Hydra” since the very beginning, the Nazi’s winning the war, and good old Cap bringing about the Fourth Reich. Ryan and I talk about Marvel’s marketing of this new Captain America with Hyrda logo’s on all sorts of merchandise.

I have always maintained that black markets are the best way to alleviate poverty. They are also proving themselves the best way to preserve freedom. Two interesting cases came to my attention last week to illustrate beautifully how entrepreneurship does far more to defend life and liberty than all political action combined.
These numbers aren't random-- there are reasonsIf I lived in Virginia I'd be facing a real dilemma-- to vote for someone with as conservative a record as Ralph Northam as a way of preventing a potentially catastrophic Republican victory in the gubernatorial election in 2 weeks. Over recent years many Iranians in the big cities confided quietly to the opinion pollsters that they feel an empathy with the West. It was not reciprocated. Frankly, most people in the West have no in-depth opinion about Iran. If they think about it for more than a couple of minutes they go along with their government’s line.

“Defence news is highly sensitive and tends to be conservative especially at times of crisis”, the Glasgow University Media Group noted in its influential 1985 book War and Peace News.
A century has passed since the Great October Revolution. But the Revolution still stirs debate – one camp defending it while another condemning the historical development. It’s the normal within a class-based reality. Only a stupid and a lunatic will feel hurt with the condemnations of the Revolution the bourgeoisie carry on a regular basis as the Revolution harmed[Read More...]
