DeVos v. Public Education: Racial Disparities and our Uncertain Future
Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education, calls for the reduction of public education, advocating charter and private schools as the way of the future. This raises the question: does transforming education in this way perpetuate inequality? Charter schools pave a path toward segregation built upon socioeconomic factors, diminished teacher qualifications, and a higher level of uncertainty for students regarding the value of their education.

Devastating Hurricane Season Impacts Education across Caribbean
In September 2017, on the heels of Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria tore through the Caribbean, with devastating consequences. As Elizabeth Redden reported for Inside Higher Ed, in Puerto Rico alone, Hurricane Maria forced the closure of eleven universities that serve 60,000 students. As Redden reported, senior leaders at the University of Puerto Rico, as well as the University of the Virgin Islands and the University of the West Indies were struggling with “damaged buildings, displaced students and … stress [to] already strained budgets.”

Education for Girls: Afghanistan’s Invisible Battle
Sixteen years of war in Afghanistan, initiated by the 2001 US invasion, have sparked many political, economic, and social debates, but minimal attention is being paid to the war’s effect on education. National security and financial concerns in the country take priority over the fact that two-thirds of Afghan girls do not attend school, according to an October 2017 report from Human Rights Watch.

Trump’s grandstanding on national security could end in tragedy
By M.K. What Happened To Jesus' Message In The Age Of Trump?
Tuesday, author and former evangelical Christian right leader, Frank Schaeffer, blew the whistle on the game of footsie being played by the neo-fascist movement and their religionist endeavors. He predicted dire consequences for everyone involved. "You can bet on this," he wrote: "60 percent-plus of Americans will exit the Trump era convinced that conservative Christianity is just white identity politics. They will be right.

‘Forcing’ North Korea Denuclearization… But Does South Korea Agree?
A week after Secretary of State Tillerson made — then retracted — an offer to talk with North Korea without preconditions, President Trump’s National Security Advisor, H.R. McMaster, told the media yesterday that the US was ready to “compel” North Korea to give up its nuclear program. That means war. US policy seems to change almost hourly and depending on who you listen to, but does the US think its South Korean ally will green-light an attack on North Korea? And if not, then what? More in today’s Ron Paul Liberty Report:

How to Magically Turn a Spending Cut into a Tax Increase
I don’t focus much on media bias because journalists generally aren’t dishonest. Instead, they choose which stories to highlight or downplay based on what advances their political agenda. Though every so often I’ll highlight an example of where bias leads to an egregious (maybe even deliberately dishonest) mistake.

Choosing a School Should Be as Easy as Choosing a Hair Salon
Think about all the things you spend money on in life. Why do you pick one product or service provider over another? Is it because government told you to? Unless there’s a tax incentive, probably not. But in the case of education, we are often told one school is better than another by government, which sets its own historically horrendous standards by which to judge its own schools.

Bitcoin Is Deflationary, Transparent, and Antifragile
What we are experiencing today is a technological innovation that is moving the nature of money itself from one form to the next, and that is something that has only happened a few times throughout recorded history. It is because we are talking about a fundamental restructuring of the nature of money, and not an asset bubble occurring within the confines of the prevailing monetary system, that we can apply the “this time is different” label to Bitcoin.

Four Years On, What Can Colorado Teach Us about Legalizing Weed?
There has been quite the groundswell in recent years in the efforts to legalize marijuana. In fact, a majority of US states have at least some sort of access to legal weed, despite its still being criminalized at the federal level. But the state of Colorado led the nation when it legalized marijuana for all purposes, even recreational ones, in January of 2014. The anti-marijuana advocates warned that such an action would lead to increased drug use – especially among teens – higher crimes rates, and a whole spate of other undesirable consequences. Nevertheless, the plant prevailed.

What’s the Connection Between the Planned Elimination of the Family and Transhumanism?
YouTube commentator, Paul Romano, explains how motherhood has been demeaned in order to break the mother-child bond and eliminate the family in society. The purpose of this is to cause children to bond with the state instead. Children are encouraged to become addicted to technology as a necessary precondition for transhumanism, which is the blending of humans and machines. [Don't scoff. This process already is well underway.

Forget Fear of Overpopulation. Half the World’s Population Groups Are Declining
The UN estimates that almost half of the world's population lives in countries with below replacement fertility rates. The main clusters of low fertility generally are found in advanced and industrialized regions. The big story here is that all the hand-wringing over an overcrowded future planet is scientifically unfounded. If the current trend continues, it is even possible that mankind soon will be worried about population shrinkage and underproduction.

UN Troops May Be Deployed on the Streets of Chicago to Stop Mass Gun Violence
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is considering putting UN soldiers on the streets to combat gun violence, saying that UN 'peacekeepers', would be more suited to patrolling the streets than the US National Guard because they are better “trained” for the role. [That means they are more likely to obey orders to shoot Americans.] Earlier this year, President Trump suggested deploying the National Guard in troubled areas of Chicago, but his idea was fiercely opposed by Democrats.

EU Commissioner Says Mass Third World Immigration Must Be the ‘New Norm’
The EU claims that it is necessary for Europe's economy to continue importing people from poor third-world countries. However, people from non-European backgrounds living in Europe are much more likely to be unemployed or low wage earners. The newcomers will need to be provided with education, health care, shelter, food, and vocational training. The goal of the globalists is to mix people from divergent cultures in order to destroy national identity and create internal conflict.
