U.S. Marine Corps Officer Sees Georgian Troops Off To NATO’s Afghan War

Rotation in Georgian forces in Afghanistan

Georgian military servicemen are leaving for Afghanistan. A farewell ceremony was held at the base area of the IV Infantry Brigade in Vaziani.
The Peacekeeping Platoon of 13th Infantry Battalion of I Infantry Brigade of Georgian Armed Forces will deploy to Afghanistan in several days to engage in the NATO-led ISAF mission.
The Peacekeeping Platoon will replace the reinforced unit of West Operative Grouping already performing the mission there.
First Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of GAF Brig. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanadze, Deputy Chief Col Vladimer Chachibaia, Marine Attaché of the United States Marine Corps Lt Col Richard Brady and other top brass of Georgian army attended a farewell ceremony.
