The “Embassy closing in Yemen” story is making the rounds yet againThe Embassy was closing almost three weeks back, but apparently it didn’t then ‘ because how could it be closing now? I personally don’t believe the Embassy will close. Not entirely.I don’t think “staff’ will leave. Not entirely.Think of destabilization ops run out of the American embassy in Syria? Think of all the operations that were being run out of the American embassy in Libya? Including, but not limited to gun running and terrorist transfers.Consider that the US drone kills Yemen citizens? "A 13-year-old boy killed in Yemen last month by a CIA drone strike had told the Guardian just months earlier that he lived in constant fear of the “death machines” in the sky that had already killed his father and brother.“I see them every day and we are scared of them,” said Mohammed Tuaiman, speaking from al-Zur village in Marib province, where he died two weeks ago. “A lot of the kids in this area wake up from sleeping because of nightmares from them and some now have mental problems. They turned our area into hell and continuous horror, day and night, we even dream of them in our sleep.”
Much of Mohammed’s life was spent living in fear of drone strikes. In 2011 an unmanned combat drone killed his father and teenage brother as they were out herding the family’s camels"

Burn more people alive- That's the NATO way!Digression over back to news of the embassy closing:Sure, the Yemen embassy may lock the doors, but, it would seem to me operations of some sort will continue on. Interesting read here:
“Employees of the embassy in Sanaa said the U.S. mission had been getting rid of documents and weapons and staff had been leaving the capital over the past days with a view of closing down completely by Wednesday.The ambassador had informed them that Washington may ask the Turkish or Algerian embassies in Sanaa to look after U.S. interests in the country while the embassy was closed.“The ambassador and the rest of the staff will leave by Wednesday evening,” one employee, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.Employees at the British, French and German embassies said their missions had also been getting rid of documents and have given local staff two months’ paid leave. But there was no immediate word on the missions closing down”
Reminds me of the news of documents that went missing from the embassy in Libya-Did the staff let something get away that shouldn’t have? Who really knows.As for Yemen?
On Sunday, the U.S. embassy said on its website it had “suspended all consular services until further notice”, citing the security situation in Sanaa.
Consular services may have been suspended but special services might just continue on..
