CHOPPED: Seattle Police Clear Zone After Weeks of ‘Lawless and Brutal’ Occupation

SEATTLE – Early Wednesday morning, Seattle police moved on the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” (CHOP) and its inhabitants – a nearly month-long social justice mob experiment from which city leaders initially backed down in the wake of nationwide Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd.
CHOP was met at dawn with heavy police presence in riot gear and tactical vehicles as barricades were removed to restore order to the city’s upper east side, AP reported.

Just a few weeks ago, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced that police would soon be dismantling CHAZ-CHOP – a sudden ‘U-Turn’ in policy after calling for a “summer of love” in the occupied area.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said in a statement that CHOP has become “lawless and brutal” and would enforce the Mayor’s executive order:
