NSA, GCHQ spy on OPEC
Press TV – November 12, 2013
The list of US spying targets now includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, a new report reveals.
The US National Security Agency and the UK’s Government Communications Headquarters infiltrated OPEC’s computer systems to access an internal study in the organization’s research division, the German newspaper Der Spiegel reported, citing documents provided by American whistleblower Edward J. Snowden. -

Mistaking Omniscience for Omnipotence
Originally posted at TomDispatch. Given how similar they sound and how easy it is to imagine one leading to the other, confusing omniscience (having total knowledge) with omnipotence (having total power) is easy enough. It’s a reasonable supposition that, before the Snowden revelations hit, America’s spymasters had made just that mistake. If the drip-drip-drip of […]

The Two Snowdens

A Deal With Iran – or War With Iran?
If Bibi Netanyahu succeeds in closing down Obama’s diplomatic path to Iran, only the road to war remains open. Which is exactly what Bibi wants. For what terrifies Tel Aviv, and rattles Riyadh, is not a U.S. war with Iran, but the awful specter of American rapprochement with Iran, a detente. Thus, when France’s foreign […]

November 11 Should Still be Called Armistice Day
The British and the Canadians call today Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day. In the United States, it’s been known as Veterans Day since the end of the Korean War. Americans are much more divorced from WWI than people in Europe or Canada. Understandable, since the conflict never touched our soil, and it killed “only” 125,000 men in less than two years.

France Is Now Officially Israel's Bitch: French Obey Their Jewish Masters, Derail Iranian Nuclear Talks, And Get Rewarded For Obeying Their Masters' Wishes!
I really do not like being proven right again… I have said time and time again that these "talks" between the innocent and peaceful nation of Iran, and the so called "P5+1" states over Iran's non-existent "nuclear weapons" program were doomed from their onset…. Israel and the Jews would never allow their minion states to sign off on any agreement with Iran, simply because these psychotic criminals have always wanted Iran destroyed, and to have their minions do all the fighting and dying in a war for that nation's destruction.

Remembrance Day/Veterans Day: Poppycock - Why Remembrance Rituals Make Me See Red
Today is Remembrance Day in Canada, and Veterans Day in the United States…. This day marks the 95th anniversary of November 11th, 1918, when at 11am European time, the guns on the Western front went silent and the fighting of World War I officially came to a bitter end….It is not my place to vilify those brave individuals that gallantly fought for their nations in these conflicts…. Many believed in the cause and they had faith in their leadership and at the time went off to fight and die under the assumption that they were fighting for liberty, freedom, and justice…..

Politicians Seek To Stab Veterans In The Back On-- What Else?-- Veterans Day
John Mica (R-FL), no friend of veteransToday, every candidate and every congressmember who ever managed to get their grubby paws on my e-mail address-- both parties-- sent out Veterans Day greetings. They were all pretty much the same pious ass-kissing, many from conservatives who expect the most from the military and who had actually voted against veterans over and over again.

Richmond supplier to Trader Joe’s recalls products in E. coli outbreak
RICHMOND — More than 90 tons of prepackaged salads and sandwiches were recalled by a Richmond catering company because a bacterial strain of E. coli has been linked to its products, federal health officials announced Sunday.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Glass Onion Catering recalled approximately 181,620 pounds of salads and sandwich wraps containing cooked chicken and ham after 26 patients in three states were sickened with E. coli O157:H7, a strain of the sometimes deadly bacteria. -

"In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages, to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and in the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes.

Territorial Domination in the West Bank
Sam Mayfield | October 2, 2009
Settlement expansion in the Occupied Territories of Palestine is about more than constructing houses for Jewish settlers. Palestinian farmland is being turned into industrial space. Illegal outposts on Palestinian land are protected by Israeli military. Roads, if Palestinians are allowed to drive on them, are often blocked without warning.
I toured Illegal settlements and outposts in the West Bank with Dror Etkes. -

Sen. Graham: Israel ‘apoplectic’ about US approach on Iran
Press TV – November 11, 2013
US Senator Lindsey Graham has warned about a possible easing of economic sanctions against Iran, saying Israel is “apoplectic” about the Obama administration’s approach.
Graham, a hawkish Republican from South Carolina who has repeatedly called for military strikes on Iran, said Sunday that lifting sanctions would send the wrong message to Israel and other US allies in the region. -

Why Did France Torpedo the Iran Negotiations?
The big news coming out of the Iran negotiations at the end of last week was that France took an unexpectedly rejectionist stance in the talks and refused a deal that was all but agreed upon.
One of the reasons this was a huge deal is that the P5+1 and Iran really did seem to be on the cusp of a first-stage agreement. Secretary of State John Kerry canceled his travel plans and went to Geneva, presumably to be there to announce the historic deal. -

Will Jeh Johnson Make the Homeland More Secure?
Jeh Johnson, President Obama’s pick to replace outgoing Secretary Janet Napolitano as head of the Department of Homeland Security, will appear before the Senate Homeland Security Committee this week for his confirmation hearing. Johnson is an obscure figure to the general public, but his likely confirmation does not bode well for human rights, or your civil liberties. Johnson is civil and criminal trial lawyer who made millions defending corporations such as Citigroup and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco.
