Are We Living in a Dream Reality…?
I’ve been feeling a little weird lately, particularly over the Christmas season. A little off-balance. It was a weird sort of year. And this feeling was amplified a day or two after Christmas when Carrie Fisher died – something that was not only very sad for me, but also seemed to mess with my sense of […]

Inexhaustible Memories of Palestine: A Book Review
By Barbara Nimri Aziz | Radio Tahrir | January 3, 2106 It had been five years since I last ventured into the Occupied Territories, the shrinking Palestinian homelands. I had stood speechless at the misnomered separation wall, essentially a cement corral and a menacing blight on the landscape of the Holy Land. I had seen […]

What Are The Boundaries Of GOP Disunity?
Last night we saw how the public, the media and a united Democratic opposition was able to force a confused Republican majority, pulled in different directions and further discombobulated by contrary indication from a disjointed and incompetent Trump team, to back down on their plans to gut ethics enforcement.

The Syrian War To Free Itself From The Evil US/Israel/NATO Criminal Cabal: Updates On Present Situation
The Syrian war against the criminal cabal that wants that innocent nation destroyed continues.... Even though the newest "ceasefire" was indeed brokered just last week by the Russians, the fighting against the "terrorists" continues unabated.... As I said before, the US and Israel have always wanted Syria destroyed and broken up into smaller pieces as part of the sick and twisted "Greater Israel" project, AND for that pipeline that Israel wants built across Syrian territory.....

Russian warships come to the Philippines
Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, a man the West tends to mock or underestimate, has just delivered on yet another of his promises: further cooperation and extended relations with Russia.
Two Russian ships, the anti-submarine destroyer Admiral Tributs and the sea tanker Boris Butoma, have sailed into Manila harbour on a goodwill visit.
The move is a sign of extended friendship between the two countries and could well be the beginning of ever closer relations. -

In an extensive interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News, Julian Assange said unequivocally that the Wikileaks source for the DNC email leaks was not Russia nor a state actor. In keeping with the Wikileaks tradition of never disclosing a specific source, Assange refused to elaborate further. Others, however, including former British diplomat Craig Murray, have said that the source was someone in the United States with easy access to the leaked information.

The prison was the scene of a deadly riot and grisly murder, state officials said [Xinhua]
Brazilian investigators say that an extremely violent brawl, which killed some 60 inmates at a prison in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas, was sparked by a turf war between two large gangs.

Another 50 Years of Mideast Strife
One of my favorite literary expressions is the term ‘Parthian shaft.’ It refers to the favored tactic of the Parthians, a Persian people, of turning while on horseback and firing arrows while retreating. The Roman consul Crassus, who defeated Spartacus, may have died from such a Parthian shaft after his defeat at the battle of Carrhae in 53 BC...

Donald Trump mocks intel agencies for failing to prove Russian hacking
In his most recent comment on Twitter, President-elect Donald Trump expressed his frustration with the intelligence community over the fact that it continues to delay a crucial briefing on the alleged Russian hacking of the US election.
Trump’s comment appears to suggest that the entire narrative is made up and that the briefing delay is a testament to the fact that the intelligence community simply doesn’t have a case to present. -

Democratic Party Line Could Torch Civil Liberties… and Maybe Help Blow Up the World
Many top Democrats are stoking a political firestorm. We keep hearing that Russia attacked democracy by hacking into Democratic officials’ emails and undermining Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Instead of candidly assessing key factors such as longtime fealty to Wall Street that made it impossible for her to ride a populist wave, the party line has increasingly […]

The Abolition of Foreign Policy
What explains the behavior of nations on the world stage? There is no science to guide us, no psychology of nation-states to elucidate the secrets of the national Ego, Super-Ego, and Id. Obama’s Deadly Afghan Acquiescence
Occasionally a New York Times writer like Mark Landler will be permitted to step up to the plate and write a sensible article about President “No Guts Obama” and how he caved in to folks whom he lacked the political courage to cross. Landler’s Jan. 1 article shows, among other things, how Obama’s bowing to […]

What Will Baghdad Face in 2017?
Being stuck in traffic is daily fare in Baghdad. While checkpoints have been dramatically reduced in recent times, and the number of concrete walls appear markedly decreased, traffic jams still defy description. It doesn’t help in the least that everyone is leaning on their horns. A half-a-million taxis roam around Baghdad spewing pollution as they look for potential fares. Proposals to counter this problem have been put forth to authorities, for example, the creation of taxi stands throughout the city. All attempts to remedy this problem seem futile.

On New Year’s Eve America’s two most famous warmongers, US Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) visited the troops of Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko in Mariupol overlooking the battle lines with self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s. Then scant minutes after the American dignitary’s departure, the soldiers they promised aid and support to opened fire. Breaking the Minsk imposed truce for the hundredth time, the so-called “UKROPS” began shelling areas of the Donbass.

SOUR GRAPES? Whatever happened to the ‘smooth transition of power’ that Obama vowed?
Andrew Malcolm
McClatchy News
“You better stop stealing money from your mother’s purse, young man, or I will punish you late this year or perhaps sometime in 2018,” said no parent who was serious about punishment.
Yet that’s pretty much what President Obama did with his old-fashioned expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats over alleged political hacking by Moscow interests going back 18 months. -
