Washington and Wall Street and the collective international order they’ve built over the decades following the Second World War appear to have run their course.

Those who accept the policies of the Trump administration, cancellation of the JCPOA with Iran, seizing oil fields in Syria, endless sanctions on nation after nation, Europe blackmailed, endless threats emanating almost hourly from Trump’s iPhone as “national policy” or even criminally deranged is simply not paying attention.

“I am thrilled to report to you tonight that our economy is the best it has ever been. Our military is completely rebuilt, with its power being unmatched anywhere in the world — and it is not even close,” Donald Trump told the country at his State of the Union address on February 4th, 2020.

The US hustle on who has been destabilizing the Mideast via terrorism has gone unchallenged far too long. We listened to the mantra of the Pentagon and Pompeo blaming it all on Iran with no evidence forthcoming, and finally realized that no evidence would ever be forthcoming.

The past week has seen the celebration of the anniversary from January 1945 of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp by Soviet forces. The casual reader of the speech given by United States Vice President Mike Pence could be forgiven for not realising that the liberation was carried out by Soviet forces. Although a relatively trivial slur by the United States Vice President it was symptomatic of a wider tendency in the United States perception of world events.

As the United States and China have struggled over strategic control of the Pacific Ocean region in recent years, international media outlets have typically focused their attention on the situation in the South China Sea. However, a no less crucial “frontline” in the global confrontation between these world powers in yet another strategically important for the US part in the Pacific Ocean, Micronesia, has unjustifiably not garnered much attention from the media.
