BRICS Bank African center opens in March

BRICS leaders at the 7th BRICS Summit in Ufa, Russia on 9 July 2015 [PPIO]The BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) will open its Africa Regional Center in Johannesburg next month, South African Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said on Wednesday.
The BRICS Bank is looking at local funding solutions, such as tapping financial and capital markets in BRICS nations, NDB President Kundapur Vaman Kamath has said.

SONA2016: Zuma vows to remove red-tape that hinders investment

Zuma vowed that his government will “remove the red tape and reviews any legislative and regulatory blockages” that hinder investment.

South African mining production grew by 3.3% in 2015

Despite load shedding, low commodity prices and policy uncertainty, South African mining production grew by 3.3 per cent in 2015 after a 1.4 per cent drop in 2014, according to data released by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).
[Image: TBP]Stats SA noted that in December 2015 there was a mixed picture as the platinum group metals (PGM) continued their recovery from the strike-hit 2014, while other mining production saw declines in response to low prices that have hurt profits and resulted in job losses as mining companies cut costs.

Zuma stresses on job-creation as new goal of China-SA ties

The year 2015, the tenth year of the existence of our movement, has almost come and gone. On the 3rd of October we gathered at the Curries Fountain Stadium to celebrate ten years of struggle. More than four thousand comrades participated in the celebration. We have survived years of serious repression – including arrests, assaults, torture, imprisonment, the destruction of our homes, slander and assassination. In these ten years we have won many victories in the struggle for land and dignity.
