Less than 24 hours after CNN reported that Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manfort has been under surveillance by the FBI since 2014, Manafort has fired back by calling on the Department of Justice to release all transcripts of his tapped phone calls so that the American public “can come to the same conclusion as the DOJ — there is nothing there.”
An unintended though unsurprising paradox of the Russiagate investigation is that though it has failed to produce any evidence of collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign team – because no such collusion took place – it is increasingly flushing out evidence of disturbing behaviour against the Trump campaign by former officials of the Obama administration.
Publication of Hillary Clinton’s book, which I have not read but which I gather characteristically blames everyone for her election defeat but herself, and which assumes all the Russiagate allegations to be true, begs the question of what stage the Russiagate investigation has reached, and whether we are any closer to a final end to this affair.
The answer is that the investigation – predictably enough – appears to be going nowhere, and that the affair is now probably close to its end.
As with any witch hunt, as the evidence (or lack of evidence) begins to surface, investigators turn their attention to finding alternative targets to burn in order to legitimize the lie.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is bringing onboard New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, who is connected with the Soros family.
Connections to anything Soros raises huge red flags, given George Soros’ funding of various groups specifically charged with inciting revolution against the Trump administration, but Schneiderman’s beef with Trump goes much deeper, as he has sued Donald Trump and his son.
George Soros’ son Alex Soros met Eric Schneiderman in August 2016 before the national election.
