After a month of rumors, this morning Glen Rock, New Jersey Councilwoman Arati Kreibich, announced she is running for the north Jersey congressional seat occupied by Josh Gottheimer, arguably the most destructive Democrat in the House, a 2020 version of Joe Lieberman, one of his heroes. If you're a regular DWT reader, you already know all there is to know about Gottheimer. Let me just make one thing clear about Gottheimer, Blue Dog, New Dem and co-chair of the mis-named Problem Solvers Caucus.

Whenever there's any kind of legislation put forward to help working families, you can always count on two things-- Republicans will vote NO and a certain number of reactionaries from the Republican wing of the Democratic Party will join them. In the forefront of that group of reactionaries is always Central Valley Blue Dog Jim Costa.

In June, Blue America endorsed a bartender, rugby player, former legislative aide and Democratic Socialist, Shaniyat Chowdhury, for Congress. He's running in the deep blue (PVI is D+37) southeast Queens district (NY-05) that includes Jamaica, the Rockaways, Cambra Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Ozone Park, St Albans, Kew Gardens (+ a sliver of western Nassau County including Valley Stream and Elmont).

Alex Morse released this announcement video this morning. He's the 30 year old mayor of Holyoke, Massachusetts, who originally won that office when he was 22 and beat an establishment politician who was very much like current MA-01 Congressman Richard Neal. "There's an urgency to this moment in Massachusetts’ First District and our country, and that urgency is not matched by our current representative in Congress. We need new leadership that understands that we can no longer settle for small, incremental, and compromising progress. We need to be on offense.

Earlier this morning we saw Albert Lee make a pretty compelling case for himself as a candidate for the Portland, Oregon congressional seat, admitting the incumbent, Earl Blumenauer, isn't the worst Democrat and a couple of weeks ago Frances Motiwalla here in L.A.
