The lowest point in my 2 years of cancer treatment led to the highest point. I was zonked on chemo at this point but still managing to stay at home. I was a mess. One of the hardest and most thankless tasks in electoral politics is primarying an entrenched incumbent of one's own party. No matter how corrupt and awful the incumbent, the party establishment always rallies round the colleague and heaps abuse on the challenger.

Maryland's 6th congressional district used to be Republican territory.
