Paula Jean Swearengin Seems Like A Pretty Ideal Senate Candidate, Right?

There's a fantastic candidate running for the U.S. Senate in West Virginia: Berniecrat Paula Jean Swearengin. And she's running against the worst Democrat in the Senate, Joe Manchin. Under normal circumstances, we'd be urging everyone to get on board the Swearengin train immediately. Normal circumstances? Remember them?

Holding The Execrable Wasserman Schultz Accountable--Tim Canova Will Finish What He Started Last Year

Wasserman Schultz is one of the slimiest politicians in the country-- and she's entrenched. But Tim Canova challenged her in a policy-focused campaign and nearly beat her. She spent over $4,000,000 in mostly special interest money and Tim was able to go toe-to-toe with her in grassroots small dollar contributions ($3,785,044).

Meet Marie Newman, The Brave Woman Taking On Entrenched Blue Dog Dan Lipinski In Chicago

When Dan Lipinski inherited his father's Southside Chicago district in 2004, he hadn't lived in Illinois in 15 years. He was a Tennessee conservative-- eventually he even voted for Tennessee Blue Dog Jim Cooer as Speaker instead of Nancy Pelosi-- but returned "home" to hold the family fiefdom. Despite his help-- possibly because of it-- she barely managed to come in second in her three-way primary.

Why Don't Conservative Democrats Debate?

The Democratic establishment insisted on pushing doddering and conservative relic Ted Strickland as the Ohio Senate nominee. Strickland was too scared to debate his young and intellectually vigorous opponent, PG Sittenfeld-- he never did-- and now he's facing a situation where he is unprepared to debate his Republican opponent, Rob Portman. In the end, Strickland beat Sittenfeld by a landslide, 720,336 to 248,776, and taking part in the series of debates-- or even one debate-- Sittenfeld challenged him to do, wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Americans' Overwhelming Desire For Congressional Term Limits Isn't Because They Trust Or Admire Congress

As we've seen in California, there are real drawbacks to mandatory legislative term limits, not the least of which is how even more power devolves to lobbyists, something that has made Sacramento virtually worthless as a vehicle for progressivism, despite huge Democratic majorities. But Congress is so hated by the American people-- and rightfully so-- that term limits is supported overwhelmingly.
