Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto is notorious for avoiding meetings with protesters.
It took him an entire year to finally meet with the parents of the 43 students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College who went missing in September 2014. Peña Nieto also cancelled talks with leaders of National Coordination of Education Workers, CNTE, which led massive protests last year against government education cuts.

Homeland Security Chief Gives Mixed Messages Over Use Of Splitting Families As Deterrent To Illegal Immigration

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says parents and children caught crossing the Mexican border illegally won’t be separated unless the “situation at the time requires it.”
Kelly said border agents could separate parents and children if, for instance, the mother is sick or addicted to drugs. But he said it won’t be routine.

The fiscal 2018 price for President Trump’s border wall is in: $2.6 billion. That’s a cost to U.S. taxpayers, not a cost many people any longer think will be picked up by the Mexican government.
As first installments go, it’s a pretty big number. Indeed, its size can be appreciated in one powerful way by setting it against some of the many budget cuts Trump proposed this week.
