Anyone who is familiar with Mexicans is struck repeatedly by the sheer ignorance and the false claims that immigration opponents marshal in support of their position.

These days, when Mexico and the United States are mentioned in the same sentence, it usually has something to do with President Trump building a wall. So it’s a little bit ironic that Mexico beat the U.S. to tearing down the wall between its citizens and access to legal medical marijuana. On June 21, 2017, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto signed a decree legalizing medical cannabis in the country, with the strong support of the nation’s Lower House of Congress. [1]

MICHIGAN– Following his election last November, President Trump – while still president-elect – sent “strong hints” to U.S.-based car companies via Twitter in an attempt to convince them to stop sending U.S. auto manufacturing jobs overseas.

Progress on President Donald Trump’s pet project – construction of a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border – has stalled as Congress has withheld funding, but the government’s renewed interest in buying South Texas land is raising concerns it’s doing groundwork for the wall.

What happens in Haiti doesn’t stay in Haiti. Sooner or later, it comes to places like Michigan’s Benton Harbor and Flint. Our destinies are linked. Zbigniew Brzezinski, a Polish aristocrat who long puppeteered United States presidents from behind the curtains, has written: “America is too democratic at home to be autocratic abroad. This limits the use of America’s power, especially its capacity for military intimidation.” I concur.

Along the winding trail that leads to the hot springs, there are crafts for sale made by Mexican artisans and a small jar to collect the money. Nobody attends the booth in the daytime, as it would be illegal for someone to cross the river and enter the country without going through proper channels (in fact, it’s unlikely that these artisans have passports). The jar collects money via the honor system, expecting patrons to contribute based on the price tags affixed to the artisan goods.

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump continued to pursue its menacing stance toward undocumented Mexican immigrants in the United States as Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggested that if Mexico doesn’t pay for a proposed border wall, individual Mexicans residing in the U.S. could be targeted and forced to pay a part of the cost.

A group of Texas attorneys launched a campaign Wednesday to help ensure that property owners on the state’s southern border are properly compensated should the Trump administration seize their lands for a border wall.
