For decades, the United States has taken China’s ballistic missile capability for granted, assessing it as a low-capability force with limited regional impact and virtually no strategic value. But on October 1, during a massive military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Beijing put the U.S., and the world, on notice that this assessment was no longer valid.

On August 29th, 2019, President Trump gave a short speech on the South Lawn of the White House, establishing the US Space Command. This video clip was one reaction to the news. The reactions to this news are conflated with the intent of President Trump to create a sixth branch of the US military services, to be called the U.S. Space Force.

Just last week, someone tested a long-range, intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, with enough firepower to kills millions of people.
Except it wasn’t North Korea—it was the United States.

Expectations have been growing for a new Trump-Putin summit as tensions spike over an outdated Cold War, Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF).
Trump’s National Security Advisor, John Bolton, was recently in Moscow, and relayed to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the White House wanted a Paris meeting. Putin said he was interested in such a meeting.
Both Putin and Trump will be in Paris for the November 11 World War I commemorations, which 60 heads of state and government are expected to attend.

The Russian News Agency TASS reported on 12 March that the Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said that the Ministry has signed a defense contract on the most advanced Avangard hypersonic missile complex.
According to an unnamed additional source, the complex is expected to come into full service no later than 2019.

President Vladimir Putin gave his countrymen and the listening West a very tough talk today. During his yearly “State of the Russian Federation” speech, modeled roughly after the United States’ own “State of the Union” address, President Putin announced the deployment of six extremely advanced weapons systems and technologies.
