Recently, it appears that the WHO, scientific researchers, and medical professionals have joined the rest of the public in renouncing genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

After paying an original sum of $2.4 million to reimburse farmers for contaminating their fields with genetically modified wheat that had not even yet been approved for farming, Monsanto has been forced to pay another $350,000 in order to settle a class action lawsuit brought upon by numerous farmers from over seven different states.

The Food and Drug Administration has recently approved some genetically modified varieties of apples and potatoes that do not bruise or brown. The agency says they are “as safe and nutritious as their [non-GMO] conventional counterparts,” yet is shockingly considering a label for the creations.

From the organization that brought you the approval of suicide-linked Prozac, a side effect which the drug manufacturing was fully aware of before selling to the public, comes a new declaration: the new GMO apples and potatoes are perfectly safe! Better yet, they’re just as nutritious as conventional crops. And chances are you won’t even know if you’re eating them.

Agribusiness giant Monsanto is trying to force patented genetically modified (GM) seeds and crops on African farmers and consumers who don’t want them. This was the conclusion of a report released in late February by Friends of the Earth International, a network of environmental organizations encompassing 74 countries.

Maine lawmakers along with members of the grassroots coalition, Organic Consumers Association, have put forth a bill, LD 991, with strong bipartisan support to label GMOs immediately. Not with strange “supporting-state clauses,” and not in years to come – but NOW.

It continues to be clear that the awakened public will not so easily be brought down by the GMO industries. However, at South by Southwest (SXSW), it appears that money from GMO corporations talks as true debate is controlled and censored. Katherine Paul, Associate Director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), an organization dedicated to protecting organic standards, has officially been censored from SXSW.

Obesity used to just be a problem of the West, but our insidious Coca-cola culture has spread worldwide along with our junk food habit, so obesity is practically taking over the globe. One of the culprits? Genetically modified ingredients.

Despite an overwhelming number of consumers voicing their desire to know whats in their food, Idaho lawmakers, as well as others, are taking steps toward making sure that never happens.

Remember that unsavory consequence that experts warned about whereby genetically engineered ‘trans’ genes cross-pollinate non-GM types to cause a literal war on our food supply? Well it has happened again in South Africa.
