Tucker Carlson: The Elite Pedigree of a Brilliant Cosplaying “Populist”

Tucker Carlson has made a fortune pretending to be a populist everyman, but his incredibly sketchy past includes ties to neocons, the CIA, and multiple trips to Nicaragua as a "freedom-fighter" with the Contras.

Exchange With BBC Journalist at the Remeece March

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Remeece march from Croyden to Brixton, a joyful experience due to the overwhelmingly positive response from shoppers, bus and car drivers, shop owners along the route, and the presence of the charismatic Remeece himself, whose relentless work at schools around the country has been vilified in the corporate media and earned him the respect of every […]

The War in Afghanistan: The real “Crime of the Century” behind the Opioid Crisis

In May, the HBO television network aired a new two-part documentary exploring America’s ongoing opioid epidemic entitled The Crime of the Century. The first episode summarized the role of the pharmaceutical industry in the crisis, specifically that of Sackler family drug-maker Purdue Pharma and its deadly prescription painkiller, OxyContin. When Questioning Popular Opinion is Prohibited

Once upon a time a new class of people emerged. They were scholars and elitists, ‘special people,’ well ensconced in academia, politics, economics and military intelligence. This required […]

Consortium News deploys the CIA’s “conspiracy theory” meme

Mark Crispin Miller The late, great Robert Parry founded Consortium News in 1995, in response to “a crisis building in the U.S. news media,” whose allergy to inconvenient information he knew all too well from having worked for Newsweek and AP. “The mainstream media was falling into a pattern of groupthink on issue after issue, …

CONNECT THE DOTS: Crack Cocaine, Contras and the CIA

In 1996, investigative journalist Gary Webb discovered links between Nicaragua’s Contra rebels and the CIA’s cocaine drug-running operation in the 1980’s. Webb wrote the Dark Alliance series for the San Jose Mercury News which exposed the CIA’s Contra rebels cocaine shipping into the US, which ended up as crack cocaine flooding cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco – and with the proceeds from the sales of those drugs being funneled back to fund the Contra militants.

What About That Saudi Death Penalty and Our “New Journalism”?

You can get the death penalty in Saudi Arabia for apostasy, adultery and sodomy, among other crimes, but… something tells me that the fifteen plus individuals involved in the recent “rogue” murder of Jamal Khashoggi — “rogue” meaning MBS, the “reformist” Saudi leader, had zero knowledge of the planned assassination — will NOT be subject to capital punishment.

The Eerie Silence Surrounding the Assange Case

Julian Assange remains cut off from the world in Ecuador’s London embassy, shut off from friends, relatives and thousands of supporters, leaving him unable to do his crucial work, as John Pilger discusses with Dennis J. Bernstein. In a recent communication between Randy Credico, an Assange supporter, comic and radio producer, and Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the House […]
