Ryan's "compromise" immigration bill-- a compromise between the relatively mainstream conservatives and the neo-fascists in the House-- fell apart today as 112 Republicans joined every single Democrat to oppose it. Just 121 Republicans stuck with Ryan. The final score was 121-301.
I don't think anyone really thought Goodlatte's extreme hard-core anti-immigrant bill (HR 4760) had a chance of passing this afternoon. And it didn't. With every single Democrat and 41 Republicans voting NO, it went down 231-193. It was interesting that most of the Republicanos with tough reelection battles looming voted against it.

Breitbart appears frightened that Señor Trumpanzee could abandon Stephen's racism and xenophobia for something more pragmatic. They were calling him "Amnesty Don" Thursday morning (above) but appear to have changed the headline slightly by afternoon (below). But they're still whining about the DREAMers, as you can see.
Neither Will Hurd (R-TX) nor Pete Aguilar (New Dem-CA) are very popular in their districts and, frankly, neither deserves reelection. A Democrat is likely to beat Hurd, although the DCCC and the Castro Machine have its fingers on the scale for a worthless Blue Dog in South Texas. And it will take some time before a progressive is in position to primary Aguilar in the Inland Empire. They’re both useless back-benchers from overwhelmingly Hispanic districts and this week they co-sponsored a DACA compromise-- a “discussion draft” ahead of Trump’s January 19 deadline.

Alabama racist Mo Brooks would like to take away a little of Steve King's thunder to adorn his own Confederate glory. Last week, the House passed Brooks' latest anti-Hispanic scheme, 221-202, every Democrat voting NO and 20 Republicans abandoning the party's racist, anti-immigrant core.
One of the low points for Mitt Romney in his forever campaign for the presidency was the juxtaposition between him hiring illegal aliens and then him pandering the the vilest segments of the GOP Know Nothing base with his self-deportation screed. And one of the low points for Republican voters-- at least in 2012-- was a GOP debate audience booing Rick Perry for advocating educating DREAMers. This week ABC News and the Washington Post released a national poll on immigration reform.
