Latest Odds of a Shooting War Between NATO and Russia
George Szamuely is a Hungarian-born scholar and Senior Research Fellow at London’s Global Policy Institute. He lives in New York City. I spoke to him about escalating hostilities on Russia’s Ukrainian and Black Sea borders and about Exercise Trident Juncture, NATO’s massive military exercise on Russian borders which ended just as the latest hostilities began.

Foreign Policy Arrogance Undermines Our National Security
Pride is one of the seven deadly sins. It is also deadly when it drives your foreign policy. President Trump's pick for Joint Chiefs Chairman, Gen. Milley, has promised that the US military will beat any adversary harder than it has every been beaten before. That may well be true. But is it relevant?

Of Cockroaches and Humans
Rita Levi-Montalcini, the Italian Nobel laureate honoured for her work in neurobiology, once gave a splendid conference with the title “The imperfect brain”. Should Americans Believe Gallup Polling Data?
The Gallup Organization was criminally charged in 2012 under the False Claims and Procurement Integrity Acts. The False Claims Act is the primary tool the U.S. government uses, leveraging insider whistle-blowers, to combat contracting fraud against the government. An uncontested 57-page complaint (PDF) reveals that Gallup intentionally delivered deceptive data to the US Mint, the US Department … Continue reading "Should Americans Believe Gallup Polling Data?"

Rothbard Was Right
Political pundits and ideologues of all sorts are possessed of a kind of double vision, a two-track perspective on the world that informs and modifies their worldview. 21 Big Thoughts on the Persecution of Julian Assange
(CJ Opinion) — 1. Assange started a leak […]

Does Jackie Speier Think She's Found The Smocking Gun?
The first I ever heard of Russian oligarch and Putin crony Dmitry Rybolovlev-- the "king of fertilizer"-- was on Rachel Maddow's show. She talked about him quite a bit last year, as you can watch her doing above in a clip from March 2017. She kept going back to him not just because he's a billionaire who bought a Greek Island, a French soccer team and the most expensive apartment in Manhattan, but because in 2008 he bought a rather dilapidated Palm Beach mansion from shady businessman and already notorious money launderer Donald J. Trump.
