Sputnik – December 16, 2019 Eric Pickles, UK Special Envoy for post-Holocaust issues, has indicated Boris Johnson’s government will pass a law making it illegal for public bodies to engage with the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. Speaking at the International Institute for Strategic Dialogue’s conference in Jerusalem on 15 December, Pickles said BDS […]

The longest ever UN climate talks on record – Conference of Parties (COP)25 – have finally ended in Madrid with nothing, but a compromise deal. Many of those in attendance were unhappy with the overall package, feeling it did not reflect the urgency of the science. A disappointment has overwhelmed many COP25 delegates. Exhausted delegates reached agreement on the key[Read More...]
Prior to the UN Convention on Climate Change talks held in Madrid, the sense that tradition would assert itself was hard to buck. Weariness and frustration came in the wake of initial high minded optimism. Delegates spent an extra two days and nights attempting to reach a deal covering carbon reduction measures before the Glasgow conference in 2020. The gathering[Read More...]

The Duran’s Alex Christoforou and Editor-in-Chief Alexander Mercouris discuss the rising tensions in the Mediterranean as Turkey has now overtly entered the Libyan conflict, supporting the GNA-Tripoli government.
Erdogan is laying claim to a large swath of the Mediterranean sea, from Turkey’s south to Libya’s western port, covering Greek and Cypriot maritime territory, and irking France, Israel and Egypt in the process.
Boris Johnson is entitled to crack open a few bottles of champagne after being re-elected prime minister, with his Conservative party winning a landslide majority. But when the celebrations are over, Britain is facing a thumping hangover – from the inescapable fact that half of the United Kingdom is now on an irrevocable path of separatism and independence.
Entrepreneurship isn’t just about having a dream. Everyone has a dream. Entrepreneurship is really about identifying what people want and need. Here’s a look at the top 10 on LinkedIn’s 2019 list of the fastest-growing startups.
Why their failure? This metaphor can give us an answer: In those few minutes after takeoff as we all lean back in our assigned seats in an American Boeing 737 Max (Donald Trump is our pilot and Bill Barr is our copilot) neither we or they are aware that the plane is about to crash. Bad engineering, inadequate quality controls,[Read More...]
Democrats have a dilemma — determine the best candidate to lead the country or search for the best candidate to beat Donald Trump. The Dems acknowledge their Party has drifted to the left, proposing progressive legislation that will more equitably distribute wealth, more assuredly meet all citizens’ health needs, and prevent crises of climate change and nuclear conflagration. Proposed programs[Read More...]
It is ironical that we have been observing December 10 as the World Human Rights day following two most egregious incidents of violation of human rights in India – one by a gang of rapists and the other by the state police, each occurring within a couple of days. In Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, a survivor of gang rape was [Read More...]
There’s a well-known story, often included in children’s story anthologies, about the legendary wisdom of King Solomon. Once a dispute between two women was brought to him to resolve. Both of them were mother’s of two small babies, and they lived in the same house. One morning one of the babies was found dead, smothered in bed. Then each of[Read More...]
Co-Written by Bishaldeep Kakati and Pranjit Das There was a time when the tales of the Assam Agitation were simply a part of history, for all those who were born in the post Assam Agitation era. But as the common quote itself says, “History repeats itself”, hence it seems that even something similar to Assam Agitation is currently lingering in[Read More...]
India is witnessing a set of massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). These protests do offer a ray of hope of preserving and protecting the idea of ‘secular’ India. What the parliament sought to undo to the constitution through the majoritarian numbers is sought to be redone by the mass protests. A regime which is bent on bringing[Read More...]

And don't tell me Greta isn't extremely privileged while playing up ideas of austerity for everyone else! Bottom line which of you are cavorting with the rich and famous? Sailing the globe on sailing yachts? Riding around in an alleged eco cars (TESLA)? Poor Greta ? Reality most of us are driving beaters? Previously enjoyed vehicles? Or using public transit? Perhaps riding a bike?

The CIA’s extraordinary rendition programme, through which individuals allegedly suspected of terrorism would be kidnapped and whisked off to secret interrogation centres known as black sites, has recently been revisited in mainstream media through a series of illustrations by a prisoner held in Guantanamo’s Camp 7. The sketches drawn by the prisoner Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn depict the torture inflicted upon him by CIA interrogators.
The title’s statement is a repeat of what I’ve said ever since the referendum’s result. Since the exit poll from the British general election [and the subsequent official numbers afterward], liberal progressives on social media were trying to comprehend what actually happened – how could they have presided over the biggest Labour defeat in decades – trying to come up with all sorts of excuses for Labour’s devastating defeat.

To grasp the real meaning of the 12 December UK general election result is to understand the history of a state born in mercantilism and sustained by centuries of empire and colonialism.
Allow me to explain.
Democrats took control of both chambers of the state legislature only weeks ago and are pushing gun control legislation, universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red-flag law. In response, gun owners joined with their sheriffs in more than 75 counties and formed Second-Amendment sanctuary counties.

It is not settled. The United Kingdom is leaving the European Union in six weeks and no power on earth can stop it. It begs the question what international organisations should the UK emphasise. Dare we mention the Commonwealth?
by NoahJust like Donnie Mental Case, Al Capone, his family, and his associates constantly whined about law enforcement spies and a bias from the FBI and the IRS. It was his excuse for much of the abuse he saw directed his way. Also, like Trump, Capone was one of the most lawless individuals this country has ever had to suffer. Fortunately, he didn't personally go into politics.

American foreign policy, not just toward Russia and China, but the world in general isn’t built on political theory or national interest. There is no manifest destiny or more than lip service for spreading democracy leading the dialog.
Whatever artifice may have served for so many years, blinding all but the few, Ezra Pound, Martin Luther King, so very few, nothing remains, nothing to anchor to, nothing to believe in.
