Well, I decided to do it... Take a much needed break that my family says I should take to have some rest and "recharge my batteries"... The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved a bill facilitating the provision of aid to countries ruled by post-coup military governments.
The bill would require the US government to determine when a democratically-elected government has been removed by force, Foreign Policy reported on Wednesday.

Changing power games
The Western stance on Ukraine’s recent public protests shows that although the Cold War ended many years ago there is still a strong sentiment in the West for countries such as Ukraine to choose between the West and Russia.
No country is willing to live amid tense military confrontation, and the strategy of major powers to force smaller ones to take sides will eventually backfire, said a People’s Daily commentary on Monday.
Look, I'm all for holding politicians accountable for their criminal behavior and abuse of power. After reading Barton Gellman's brilliant book on Cheney, Angler, I'm more convinced than ever that Cheney should be rotting in a prison for the rest of his short miserable life, along with David Addington, his chief hatchet man. During the first Bush-Cheney term, Cheney had his way on everything.

Netherlands to sell Leopard tanks to Finland
THE HAGUE: The Netherlands would sell 100 used Leopard tanks to Finland, Dutch media reported Thursday.
The contract is likely to be signed next year after negotiations with Finland were completed in January. According to the media report, Finland will purchase the battle tanks for 200 to 250 million euros.

The United States has test-fired a nuclear-capable inter-continental ballistic missile from an airbase in the state of California.
On Tuesday, a Minuteman 3 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which is capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads, was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base into a 4,200 mile flight over the Pacific to a target on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

New US Army convoy live-firing training course inaugurated

GRAFENWÖHR, Germany: Officials from U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria and the Joint Multinational Training Command have inaugurated their new convoy live-fire training course, marking the completion of the seven-year, $4.5 million project.
