Russia will target US-backed fighters in Syria if provoked
The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has come under attack in Deir ez-Zor from areas controlled by the Kurdish led US proxy militia SDF. As previously indicated, either the Kurdish fighters are firing directly on SAA troops, or ISIS elements are now working in de-facto collaboration with the putatively secular SDF.
In any case, Syria has vowed to liberate “every inch” of its legal territory against any enemy, including the SDF. -
United States finally comes out in opposition to Kurdish separatist referendum in Iraq
After many months of sending mixed signals, the US has finally come out in opposition to a unilateral referendum for separatism which is being conducted by Kurdish organisers in northern Iraq.
With the exception of Israel which supports Kurdish separatism, every country in the region and beyond has condemned the referendum, including Russia. -
Even the EU stands up to Trump in a defence of Iran
Last night, behind closed doors, members of the P5+1 powers, who negotiated the original JCPOA (aka Iran nuclear deal) in 2013, met behind closed doors to discuss the apparent willingness of the United States to scrap the deal, in spite of the fact that the UN and even the US State Department have said that Iran is in full compliance with the terms of the agreement.
The P5+1 is comprised of Iran, China, Russia, the United States, France, Britain, Germany and the European Union. -

China comes out in strong show of support for Venezuela
China is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on the 21st of September, the same day as Russia, but prior to the speech, it already became clear that China was not about to take heed of Donald Trump’s attempts to isolate Venezuela.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Arreaza after which China declared its everlasting friendship towards Venezuela.
Wang further stated, -

A UN Force For Ukraine: Beware the Trojan Horse
Russia has proposed that a UN “peacekeeping” force be placed in Ukraine to protect Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) representatives, who are supposed to be monitoring adherence to the Minsk agreements. But already the problems with the idea have become obvious with the United States and the Kiev regime reacting to the proposal with statements that they want to use the force to “restore Ukrainian sovereignty” and its “territorial integrity.” -

UN Must Take A Leaf From The Global Grassroots BDS Movement
Among ongoing outrageous actions and in defiance of international law, Israel’s HabayitHayehudi party has just approved a plan for annexing the remaining occupied Palestinian territory “while either facilitating the exit of Palestinian residents or allowing them to remain but without voting rights.” This is by no means a surprising outcome, nor is it simply a reflection of so-called right-wing[Read More...]

Seven Reasons Why Climate Change Is Not A Hoax, Mr. Trump
REASON #1: Consider the category 4 and 5 hurricanes that have developed in one season — the intensity attributed to climate change. The latest, hurricane Maria devastated Dominica lost some of its force but still hit Puerto Rico as a category four — the worst in living memory. About two weeks earlier, hurricane Irma flattened St. Maarten with 225 mph[Read More...]

Trump at the UN: The Politics of Rodomontade
What will go down in history as the “Rocket man” speech underscores the confusion, the contradictions, the dangers, and even some of the virtues – however attenuated – of the Trump presidency. Despite the flamboyant rhetoric – or, perhaps, because of it – it’s hard to take Trump’s threat to “destroy” North Korea seriously. Trump … Continue reading "Trump at the UN: The Politics of Rodomontade"

I Think Danger Bred A Different Kind Of Gay Back Then
I was lucky; I came out when I was living in Amsterdam. I worried there was something wrong with me so I went to see a psychiatrist. I told him I thought I could be gay. He asked me why I was coming to him and if I was looking for addresses of gay bars and other places where gay people met. I didn't. I lived right across the street-- literally, 30 steps-- from a side gate into Amsterdam's biggest park (like their version of Central Park or Griffith Park). And it was a special entrance, as it turns out. At night there were always gay men in that part of the park eager to meet other men.

Reporting from New York, John Pilger describes the re-writing of the history of the Vietnam War in the 10-part television series by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Millions died "in good faith", they say. And so yet more wars are justified - as President Trump tells the world he is prepared to "totally destroy" North Korea and its 25 million people.

Kansas Progressives Have A Real Chance to Win a Swing District-- The Third District
McCain and Romney both won in KS-03, the Kansas congressional district that includes all of the Kansas part of Kansas City, all of suburban Johnson and Wyandotte counties and part of rural Miami County. Last year, though, Trump lost (narrowly), 47.2% to 46.0%. The DCCC ran one of their GOP-lite candidates, Jay Sidie, and he lost in a rout-- 51.3% to 40.6%, underperforming even Hillary. Maybe they could have figured out he was the wrong candidate when they saw how well Bernie did in Kansas against Hillary. Bernie won every district in the state and he won KS-03 62.1% to 37.9%.

Ron Paul on Trump’s UN Speech: A Neocon Dream?
President Trump’s speech yesterday at the United Nations got rave reviews from neocons like John Bolton and Elliot Abrams. The US president threatened North Korea, Venezuela, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. At the same time he claimed that the US is the one country to lead by example rather than by violating the sovereignty of others. Are the neocons on a roll as they push for more war? Have they “won” Trump?
