Fact: over 40 million people in the United States live below the poverty line, twice as many as it was fifty years ago. The homelessness epidemic, by official numbers only, has reached 1.5 million – three times more than the Great Depression in the 1930s. In 2019, shopping with food stamps has become the norm, as is living in your car. The swelling homeless population in Los Angeles has forced relief organizations to build small wooden huts to give a roof to a growing underclass. Is there a solution on the horizon?
