The object of this political theatre wasn’t merely to lynch an unpopular political operative, which it did. No, this served as a last gasp attempt to help buttress the rapidly collapsing narrative that WikiLeaks and the Kremlin colluded with the Trump campaign to meddle in America’s 2016 Presidential Election, which promulgates the popular delusion that America is supposed to be at war with Russia.
