Canada allocates $5 mln to train police officers, prepare military instructors for Ukraine’s National Guard
Canada will allocate $5 million to train new police officers and military instructors for the National Guard of Ukraine, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
“Canadian government decided to allocate $5 million for training policemen of new Ukrainian patrol mission,” Yatseniuk said at the Institute for Training Public Security Officers of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry in Kyiv on Saturday that he attended together with Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper.
According to the premier, this is “a real aid for Ukraine when becoming independent and strong country.”
Besides, Canadian military instructors will arrive to Ukraine to train the National Guard, the premier said.
Yatseniuk also emphasized a powerful political support of Canada adding that Harper was going to G7 meeting to discuss Ukrainian issue as well.
“Canada is one of the strongest allies of Ukraine and, on behalf of the government, I would like to express gratitude to the Canadian government, Canadian people and personally prime minister for clear and strong position on supporting Ukraine,” the premier said.
