US Congressmen to discuss supply of lethal weapons during their Ukraine visit
KYIV: On Monday, March 30, the delegation of US congressmen arrives in Kyiv, including Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services William Thornberry (R-TX), and the House Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
The news is reported by Radio Liberty.
It is expected that the purpose of their visit will be to discuss a possibility of U.S. lethal weapons supplies to Ukraine in order to ensure peace and security in the East.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made a statement prior to Congressmen’s visit that Kyiv greatly appreciates the support demonstrated by US lawmakers who had passed the resolution last week calling on Barack Obama to give Ukraine lethal weapons.

Obama to decide on arms supplies to Ukraine in coming days – U.S. congresswoman
KYIV: U.S. President Barack Obama may soon decide on arms supplies to Ukraine.
This was announced by U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur in an exclusive interview to Ukraine’s TSN news channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“I think time is going very short. This morning I’ve signed another letter with all of my colleagues on behalf of the defense cooperation committee to the president, asking him to advance the schedule – whatever the schedule he has in his mind to authorize immediate defensive weapons supplies to Ukraine,” she said.
Kaptur also noted that Ukraine’s security is on the “European level” and there is a need to prepare for the worst case scenario. Herewith, she added that the protection of the Ukrainian-Russian border is even more important than the provision of weapons.
“Creation of the protected border that Russia can not just cross is even more important than weapons. The representatives of the freedom-loving countries should protect the border in first turn,” Kaptur said.
