Court Upholds Prosecution of Animal Rights Activists as Terrorists

The Seventh Circuit on Wednesday upheld the prosecution of an animal-rights activist who freed 2,000 minks and foxes from a fur factory as a terrorist.
In 2013, Californians Tyler Lang and Kevin Johnson freed 2,000 minks and foxes, and left the words “Liberation in Love” spray-painted on a barn at a fur factory in Morris, Ill., roughly 60 miles from Chicago.
They were prosecuted for their actions under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, or AETA, a statute that has raised controversy since its passage in 2006.

“Terrorists should know: this administration will use all lawful tools at our disposal, including prosecution in Article III courts and at Guantanamo Bay,” Sessions told a roomful of a law enforcement officials this morning.

Notes on the New York Terror Attack…

So, a few quick notes on the apparent terror attack/incident in New York. As usual, this entirely could’ve been a straight-up ISIS-inspired, low-tech, ‘lone wolf’ attack. And, as usual, maybe not. The apparent perpetrator, Sayfullo Saipov – an Uzbek national – apparently shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ and left a note explaining that the act was carried […]
