Cuba’s legislature, the National Assembly of People’s Power, debated a draft for a new constitution this weekend that saw delegates endorse a number of far-reaching changes for the country. From marriage equality to shifting the goalposts of socialist development, the meeting saw spirited debate on a range of issues.
The media has focused on gay adoption for quite a while, perhaps because it is controversial and controversy – like sex – sells. So, it is little wonder the attention being given to gay rights advocates who are up in arms about laws they see as discriminating against them in the adoption arena based on religious beliefs of adoption agencies such as the law recently passed in Kansas granting legal protections for faith-based adoption agencies that refuse to place children in LGBTQ homes.

(ANTIMEDIA) — Last week, the U.S. was in the minority when it voted against a United Nations (U.N.) resolution encouraging countries to move toward abolishing the death penalty. In addition to arguing against the practice on general principle, the U.N.’s Human Rights Council noted the disproportionate manner in which states tend to use it.
Most women will agree that female representation in the media is incredibly important for a plethora of reasons, not only in media but as well as politics, and other platforms lacking opportunity for female participants. Providing women of all ages a strong and positive role model could break a toxic habit and pattern of accepting and expecting degrading societal roles and standards that have been appointed to us.
My sister Emma Redmond joins me today to discuss one of our favorite televisions shows, Orphan Black. We begin by giving an overview of the series which deals with a shadowy transhumanist organization called Neolution which is conducting large scale human cloning. We then move onto the basics: our favorite clones, our thoughts on the final season, and some of the overarching themes presented in the show. Emma and I then discuss Orphan Black as a feminist masterpiece.

Germany’s far-right, fascist party German Alternative für Deutschland, or AfD, has appointed an out lesbian as its new leader — a perplexing outcome for a group that staunchly opposed to same-sex marriage as well as other rights for LGBTQ people.
