A harbinger of coups d’état and Belarusian protests

For almost three weeks now, mass protests have been taking place in Belarus.
On August 9, opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya announced the falsification of the results by Alexander Lukashenko. After that, the people began to massively express dissatisfaction and call for a resignation of the current president.
During the protests, Tikhanovskaya, who is in Lithuania now, held a series of negotiations with prominent political figures. But among them I would like to highlight the last week’s meeting with the French political journalist Bernard-Henri Lévy.

While NATO denies military buildup Ukraine encourages troops to support the protest in Belarus

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that any attempt by the Belarusian government to use the Western alliance as a scapegoat and crackdown on protests was “wrong and unjustified.”
Speaking in Berlin before a meeting of European Union defence ministers, Stoltenberg also called for free and fair elections in the country after an Aug. 9 election that opponents of President Alexander Lukashenko say was rigged.

Belarus’s Options in the Midst of a Color Revolution

A “color revolution” is a media term for a movement based on legitimate grievances only to be co-opted into a regime change operation backed by the US and confederates. There have been so many – Georgia in 2003, Ukraine in 2004, Kyrgyzstan in 2005 – that they have run out of colors. Belarus is amidst the “slipper” color revolution.

Provocation? Lithuania interferes in the internal affairs of Belarus

On Monday, 24 August, the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Belarus informed that on the evening of August 23, an attempt to violate the state border in the airspace of Belarus from Lithuania was suppressed in the area of the Kamenny Log border crossing.
The Belarusian Defence Ministry claimed it used Mi-24 military helicopters to stop eight air balloons “with anti-state slogans” from crossing the border during the Freedom Way demonstration in Lithuania.
